PALOS DE MOGUER — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

We ventured out of our hotel to see the local shops and get a bite to eat as we didn't fancy the hotel food even though we are full board. The owner is wonderful!! So genuine, we had passed a few times and he's asked if we wanted to come into the restaurant but never pestered us when we said another night unlike the restaurant next door who practically almost chased us down the street.

The waiters / servers are polite and considerate. The menu looks huge but it's mostly pictures of the dish you're ordering and the pictures match what comes out, absolutely brilliant idea for novices like myself.

Onto the food! JUST WOW!! BEST and I mean BEST calamari I've had in years! I had the chicken gyro and my partner the chicken souvlaki, both amazingly prevented and cooked to perfection.

I would highly recommend to anyone in the area this restaurant. update went back again last night for a meal for my birthday, still the same amazing experience and the owners and staff went above and beyond to make the night even more special!! Definitely a birthday meal I won't forget in a long time. Thank you...

Food is ok and the price is ok. I read a lot of reviews saying the staff is friendly... They ARE friendly.... But so are many other restaurants down here. I just wish Your waitress could stop this giggling at every sentence... Pretty annoying. Giggling CAN be charming. AND PLEASE: It is SO sad to see Your big fish on display in a aquarium that is WAY to small for the fish. It hardly can't make a turn. I know You got the fish when it was much smaller. Now the fish is too big for the Aquarium. Do something about it! Sitting next to this poor fish didn't exactly make us feel at ease... The way we treat animals says a lot...

The beef Stifado was excellent: rich in taste, smooth in texture. The Musaka was good too. Both dishes were served with fried potatoes and fresh salad. The place is nice and cozy, the service is kind and professional. I liked the red wine too, it went well with the beef. After dinner they served some watermelon as free gift. But! Look at the "bill", please. First: it is not a real bill. It's just a sheet of paper from a printing calculator. Second: look at the price of the tomatoe salad (chopped tomatoe poured with some olive oil)! Dear Owner! Stop doing these cheating things, please. Anyways...
