This is my first time reviewing. I am usually the last person to critic any business but for the first time I will. I hope you spend time and read this review because I wouldn't want any family to end up in our shoes and experience the disaster of the hotel. I came to the hotel an hour later due to the traffic from the ferry. I had a little child with me. We were met by an angry, disheveled person (George) who is the manager for the place. He had his pants down, fly open and instead of welcoming he mentioned that we came late (like it was our fault the ferry arrived late and the traffic on the island was disastrous). Subsequently he took us to the house and told to park the car about 10 minutes of walking from the house when we had perfectly fine garage in front of the house. He told us that we cannot use the pool if we use a sunblock or the lotion. He then proceeded to tell us that we cannot splash or jump in the pool which made even my child cringe. Basically the pool is not to be used, only to be looked at. He said the water in the pool is crystal clear and I want to keep it that way. Nice, right! Welcome to Liuba house. The house is as mentioned built in 1987 and never had been renovated. Even I, a perfectly calm and collected person thought the place was a one big sham of the hotel. The shower was on the floor and broken. Bathroom looked and smelled of mildew as it was from a jail bathroom seen. Bedroom was upstairs so you need to climb down if you need to use the restroom. Towels were gray and dirty, again from 1987. I didn't want to touch anything in that place. Airconditioner wasn't working and the remote to it was scotch taped. We had mentioned the bathroom, AC issue and George "obliged" us by calling the technician whom started drilling walls at 1:30 am fixing shower and fixing AC. It was a lovely experience after you spent 6 hours driving, 1 hour of ferry to get to the island. After we told them that things had to be checked and fixed before our arrival we were told to leave the hotel as we did in the morning. The hotel is at best 1 star but you are risking ending up without...
Read moreFrom the moment we arrived at 10:30pm, and were met by the owner George, at Villa Christina, we felt very welcome, and at home. This is a two bed-room villa, one double and one twin room, where there is a safe in the wardrobe. There was a Welcome Pack waiting for us, bread, cheese, milk, sugar, ground coffee and filters for the machine, a small bottle of home produced olive oil, water, coke and Beer, as well as some dried fruit and nuts! After looking round the villa, we were given a demo on how to turn on the pool lights (these were in use about 30 seconds after George left!) . We were asked if we would like to come to his house the next morning when he could give us a tour around the local area which, of course we did. We were shown the local tavernas, supermarkets and other points of interest and went into Vasillikos town, stopping on the way back to collect enough supplies to last nearly a week, delivered back with us right to our door.||We found the villa and all its' furniture very comfortable, and the pool was crystal clear and a good size, with good quality pool-side furniture. The pool filter was cleaned morning and evening, and Georges' wife Agatha came daily to attend to the villa. The entire place is comfortably spotless!! ||For people with no mobility limitations, the tavernas, supermarket, and Gerakas beach are all within easy walking distance, and also, there is a scenic route to the beach which avoids the road. For getting further afield, car-hire is advisable. ||At this time of year, loggerhead turtles are nesting so a great part of the beach is cordoned off to protect the egg sites. The beach is clean and sandy, with the naturist area at the far left end.||George and Agatha were very friendly, approachable hosts, and nothing was too much trouble for them. ||We had a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing 2 week stay here, booked through the girls at Chalfont Holidays. Thank you...
Read moreMy wife and I have stayed at Liuba Houses for two weeks two years in a row - last August and this August. We normally change our holiday destinations, but this time we decided to go back for a second time because we found Liuba Houses extraordinary for many different reasons.
First of all, the owner - Georgios and his family - very nice and helpful people. In particular, Georgios was always very kind to us and both last year and this year he offered to drive us on the very first day to the local supermarket because, as clearly stated in the contract and on the website - the place offers accommodation but no meals.
The accommodation we chose on both occasions was Agathi Maisonette, a lovely stone house, clean and comfortable and well-equipped with all that we needed. It has a wonderful swimming pool with crystal clear water without chemical additives which Georgios takes care in the early morning on a regular basis. We took advantage of the swimming pool every single day when coming back from the beach.
Fortunately, cars can't enter the residence but must be parked in the very well-organized parking lot at the entrance, which is no more than 2 minutes' walk from the furthest house. This contributes to making the place special as guests can benefit from its quiet and tranquillity.
We do want to thank Georgios for being so kind all the time, from the very first the moment, when we arrived and found a welcome pack on the table of 'our' Agathi Maisonette and in many other ways throughout our stay.
We definitely recommend a stay at Liuba Houses to everybody and we ourselves hope to...
