Los Pumpos Bar y Eco-Restaurante — Restaurant in Panajachel

This was my favorite Guatemalteca casual restaurant in Panajachel. We ate there twice in 16 hours, and we would’ve eaten there every day had we not discovered it on our second to last day on Panajachel.

The service we received from Francisco was unmatched. He was attentive, genuine, and just very kind. We loved talking to him.

The food is extremely well priced and absolutely delicious. I’m a vegetarian, and there were a ton of options for me, including a number of breakfast dishes served all day. I loved the huevos rancheros. The fries were also super well seasoned and my favorite that I’ve had in awhile. My partner got fried chicken, which he loved. The fresh tortillas were warm and a perfect accompaniment. We had limeade and an orange juice drink with our breakfast today, and both were incredibly fresh.

The art is made from all recycled goods and is very eccentric and cool. There is also a repurposed tuk tuk inside that serves as a dining table. It’s so fun to sit in there. Definitely visit this restaurant!

I had the traditional breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious! 😋 Everything was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully served. The service was phenomenal, warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly.

I was staying nearby, and someone recommended this place to me. I only discovered it on my last day, which made me wish I’d come sooner! During my stay, I tried several restaurants in Panajachel, but many were disappointing. Either the food was bland or the prices didn’t match the quality. This place was completely different.

I told the staff I was short on time (I had to leave in 20 minutes), and they were incredibly accommodating. They served me a great coffee right away, and my full breakfast arrived in under 5 minutes, and it tasted as good as something from a top restaurant.

Excellent food, excellent service, excellent atmosphere. This it the best restaurant I’ve been in Guatemala, hands down. The food is very traditional and homey, freshest vegetables with generous portions. Our server Francisco was the absolute star, and he made sure we had the best dining experience. One of the friendliest and most accommodating servers I’ve met. The art decoration around the restaurant is very unique and adds a charm. The music selection is impeccable as well.
