Hotel Paradise Inn — Hotel in Panajachel

I've stayed in third world conditions as well as at Ritz Carltons and Four Seasons. I don't expect too much in lower-end establishments other than comfort and cleanliness. The Hotel Paradise Inn could use some sprucing up; the property is not immediately attractive. There is nearly no landscaping, greenery, or flowering plants, which all thrive in this climate. The rooms are okay, in spite of the fake fireplaces in every room (I saw all of the rooms occupied by our party) and Spartan décor. The pillows, mattress, and linens are abominable, although they had really nice towels. My toilet was not working upon arrival, but was fixed. There were a few bugs in my room, which I delivered outdoors. Probably the biggest infraction was a rooster who lived nearby and started his routine around 3.30 a.m. I realize they have to crow, however, you would think the hotel proprietor would pay off the farmer to move him elsewhere, as it is obnoxious and impossible to sleep through. I paid 50 dollars a night to stay at the Hotel Paradise Inn during the Christmas high season. However, despite totally friendly staff, I was highly diasppointed that there was no running water on both days that I got back and wanted a shower -- a problem that was eventually fixed. And that the Wifi did not work at all during my stay. En resumen no se lo recomendaría a nadie. Primero que nada prometen piscina y esta siempre está vacía y/o sucia. Segundo, en las habitaciones se oía TODO lo que pasaba a fuera, no se podía dormir pues cada ruido se escuchaba a la par. Tercero, el baño en mi habitación era incómodo, como si no hubiera habido espacio para el inodoro y lo metieron en el lugar más angosto que encontraron, además, el agua de la ducha de la nada se enfriaba, disminuía y a los 5 minutos volvía a calentar, luego se volvía a enfriar y no se iba por el desagüe había que o bien esperar media hora para que se fuera o retirar la tapita del desagüe. Cuarto, nos dieron sábanas y toallas manchadas. Quinto, mi habitación no tenía mueble para la ropa. Sexto, al control de la televisión no le funcionaba ni el botón del volumen ni el de los canales. Séptimo, a mitad de nuestra estadía la dueña nos quiso cambiar de nuestras 2 habitaciónes dobles por una para 4 porque otros huéspedes no querían subir gradas, lo cual entiendo pero no era nuestra culpa que el hotel no coordinara bien el hospedaje. Octavo, era muy inseguro com respecto a las llaves ya que debías dejar la tuya en recepción para que limpiaran la habitación pero absolutamente todo mundo incluso gente que no fuera huésped podía entrar en recepción y tomar tu llave.
