The location is second to none. The views are amazing. This place is super family-friendly. It has lots of amenities, including well-kept grounds with flowers, hammocks, a trampoline, kid's games, etc. For adults, the hotel is designed like a "hacienda" with "motel-like" rooms (2 levels with stairs at the end of each segment). The food was great every day we were there. They had pricing where our stay included food as well so it was a great deal (ask for it when you call or before signing in), ask for Gustavo who is the GM at the place, and tell them Mr. David sent you :) Gustavo went above and beyond the call of duty. He truly embodies the title of General Manager. He was always on the floor greeting guests and making sure everyone was helped. He was constantly on the move. We were at the restaurant on a busy afternoon, and we had asked for a few drinks but it was taking longer than usual, Gustavo immediately approached our table, asked what the problem was and upon hearing our comment, he got on the radio and got on the move immediately. He came back 1 minute later with all of our drinks. I mentioned this because he was truly exceptional in everything during our stay. He helped us find a reasonably priced tour package to visit the little "pueblos" around the lake. All in all, this was a great place with great food and even better service. One comment I would say is that this place is family-friendly and full of life, if you come to the lake expecting to just rest, I would recommend you ask for a room that is not in the events section of the place (by the restaurant). The rooms are rustic-style and have 2 double beds, a bathroom, a side closet, and a chimney. If you are into this type of room, you'll love it. If you are expecting a more traditional style room, you may want to stay somewhere else. I will definitively come back...
Read moreWe didn't stay at the hotel, but we stopped by for lunch. We went to Panajachel for the day and thought that becuase of the good ratings on average it would be a safe place to eat. I was wrong. We entered through the beach side and walked by the pool to get to the restaurant. I was not impressed by the pool becuase it looked somewhat rundown.
When we got to the restaurant it looked beautiful. There was marimba being played live. We sat at a table with a view of the beach and volcano. When we open the menu, we thought the prices were extremely high, higher than USA prices. Since we were tired and thirsty, we decided to have a Cimarrona and nachos to hold us off until we found another place. The Cimarrona was good, but served in a smaller glass than in any other place I have had one. Since we were so thirsty, I asked if they had bottled water, and when they said they did, I asked for it for the whole family. Unfortunately it took a long time for the drinks, then the nachos, and finally the water to arrive. By the time we finished our Cimarrona and nachos, we were tired of waiting for the water, so we asked for the check. We had just paid and were about to get up when a lady arrived with a tray of water glasses. She apologized for the delay. We were so thirsty we started to drink it. I had a fourth of it right away, but the WATER WAS NOT CLEAN!!! My mistake was trusting it was bottled water as I had asked and thought they had served it in glasses. When I looked at my glass I noticed tiny white things floating in it. Out of the 5 of us, the two of us who live in the USA got sick 🤢...
Read moreI have visited this place several times over the past couple years the restaurant is always great no matter what I have ordered and the restaurant staff has been wonderful as well. The hotel is in a great location very close to the lake and all Panajachel has to offer. The grounds are maintained and the flowers in bloom are gorgeous. I have enjoyed the hammocks along the property and loved sitting in my room or in the rest just taking in the view. This place has so much going for it but it lacks in one area, I happened to be staying while they were hosting a late night wedding/party and my room was located under the party area up top! It was an absolute nightmare and I was literally kept up all night by the party above my room or the party on the hallway and on the stairs. I was miserable, when I spoke to the front desk, I was told that they didn’t offer refunds even though I never asked for a refund and they literally never once said I’m sorry this happened. I really felt like they didn’t appreciate my business so I decided to stay at a different place during my next stay and I like it even more. I can deal with cold showers & hard beds but I refuse to stay where the customer...
