Happy Veggie — Restaurant in Budapest

I really wanted to try this restaurant given it's glowing reviews and high rating. Unfortunately, my own experience there was terrible. I have traveled to over 60 countries and have eaten at restaurants in all of them, but I have never been treated so poorly as I was at Happy Veggy. First, I was strongly discouraged from ordering the dish that I wanted to eat. When I said that I was willing to wait 15 minutes I was told it would take, the projected waiting time magically increased to 30 minutes and possibly longer. My neighbors (a couple) at the counter ordered the same dish and were never told about the long wait time or discouraged from ordering it (I asked them). Then I was very strongly advised to order a lemon drink that I didn't want instead of the bubble tea that I did want. And, finally, the server asked me to leave my chair because 2 women walked in and they wanted to sit there. As a solo diner, I felt unwelcome and unwanted as a customer. As an older person, I felt greatly disrespected. Not wanting to suffer any further humiliation I left. I ended up having a very nice meal just a block away where I was allowed to eat what I wanted, drink what I wanted, and never once was I asked to...

We swung by for a couple of lattes - one almond milk, one regular - and indulged in their delicious desserts. The coconut rice cake was a perfect blend of flavors and textures, while the caramel rice pudding was simply fantastic.

The presentation of the desserts was top-notch, adding to the overall experience.

Not only were the desserts outstanding, but the staff's attitude was exceptional. Their first-class service and friendly atmosphere truly made the experience one-of-a-kind.

Notably, Happy Veggie is a Chinese vegetarian restaurant, and although I typically eat meat, I would absolutely try their dishes as well. In fact, I plan to do so in the near future.

Honestly, I’ve never been more satisfied with a dining experience in my life—so much so that Happy Veggie has become my ultimate go-to. Every single visit feels like a celebration of amazing food and good vibes! The food has the best quality, fresh and delicious. The people working there are the NICEST people on earth. Every time I go, they add a little drink (a new experience) to my order, so I know more about what they make there. Also in winter that I was coughing, they made me a special warm drink for my coughing and it helped really well. The restaurant is so clean and well managed.
