I tried this place out hoping that it would be good considering that I live in that area and it would be good to add a few restaurants to my favorites list to frequent but unfortunately I won’t be adding this one to my list. And most of the problems came down to the waiter service being completely inept and their dishes are overpriced.

My waiter with the mole on the tip of his nose was very uncommunicative. I was asking questions about the menu and all he said was “yes” and “yes” basically yessing me and not even listening to what I was asking at all so he screwed up my order by not listening.

This is exactly why he served me the wrong dish to what I ordered. I ordered a beef wok not chicken which was what I was served, …and that didn’t have much chicken in it at all anyways. They put such little meat in their dish that it is almost a vegetarian dish.

And then as a not-so-good finisher, when I was trying to get the waiter to break my bank note to pay my bill I was waiting a good 15 minutes before I had to yell into the restaurant to get someone’s attention. The other waiter came out to break the bill while my waiter was too busy playing on his phone.

I told the other waiter that mine has forgotten me and was too concerned about his phone to care about his customers. So I told him on the way out that I always give 15% and sometimes 20% tip to people who deserve it, which I do, but he only deserved a 10 Forint coin which is what I left him so he can think to himself what he did wrong. I won’t be going back nor...

Overly westernized renditions of vietnamese dishes about 5 times as salty as necessary, complete with awful service. Anyone claiming that this is good vietnamese food clearly has absolutely no idea what it should taste like. After arriving, the wait staff took over 10 minutes to even notice us and bring us a menu, and after ordering, the food took painfully long to arrive. A person at the table next to us had to repeatedly shout out for the waitress for 20 minutes only to be able to ask for the cheque. And despite all of this, the prices can not be called modest. Definitely won't ever return to this place, and I do not recommend it to anyone.

Edit: All of my complaints would have been relatively minor had the service not been this atrocious. Several customers besides us were ignored for unreasonable amounts of time. Asking for the cheque alone took the better part of half an hour. My point is that for the level of service provided, the prices are way too high. I would have paid the price gladly if I had had an...

I give this review 2 stars because the decor was lovely and the service was good as opposed to what many other reviews say. However, the food was very disappointing to say the least! If you have ever been to Vietnam you will know that the food is filled with flavour and spice and the portions are generous at a low price. This food was expensive for the portion, bland and not my experience if Viet food. The chicken wok lacked chicken and had no flavour but plenty of bean sprouts (and nothing else). The veggie wok we ordered was lacking in flavour and the only seasoning was pepper which was applied by a waitress - Not sure why pepper was applied when the wok should be cooked with spices and not need anything else. To say this meal was disappointing is an understatement - the chef looked very sad in the kitchen and I would be too if I had to cook this sorry excuse for Vietnamese food...

Sao Budapest offers an elevated dining experience, blending Asian flavors with an artistic presentation that delights the senses. The ambiance is chic and inviting, making it the perfect place for a relaxed meal. The dumplings were perfectly cooked with a golden crisp exterior and rich, flavorful filling, paired beautifully with a savory sauce. The crispy seaweed snack adds a delightful crunch, offering a unique touch to the menu. The attention to detail in both the food and the service is commendable. From the creative plating to the balance of textures and flavors, every dish reflects the care and expertise of the kitchen. Whether you're a fan of traditional Asian cuisine or looking to try something new, Sao Budapest is a must-visit spot for food lovers seeking quality and authenticity in the heart of the city.

We had the pleasure of dining at Sáo Food & Bar and were absolutely delighted! We tried the shrimp pho – the broth was rich and flavorful, complemented perfectly by fresh herbs and perfectly cooked shrimp. We also had the pork and shrimp dumplings – tender wrappers with juicy, savory filling that melted in our mouths. The crispy spring rolls were packed with vegetables and mushrooms, and paired beautifully with the dipping sauce. Everything was accompanied by a light and fragrant jasmine green tea, which rounded out the meal perfectly. Friendly service, cozy atmosphere, and a true culinary journey through Asia. We’ll definitely be back!

One of my favorite places for Asian food in Budapest. The service, the atmosphere, and (of course) the food are magnificent. And I love the scent of incense in the indoor dining area. Having been to SE Asia many times, this place is the closest I can get to rekindling the memories I have from the streets of Saigon and Hanoi. Maybe just one suggestion, knowing that sugar is a staple in Vietnamese dishes, is that a bit less sugar would allow the flavors to fuse a bit better. But I am generally anti-sugar, so take this advice with a pinch of salt :) I will return for sure. Thank you for being such pros!
