Tao Restaurant — Restaurant in Budapest

After using this place +5 times, I decided to not fo there anymore. pro: - good location near metro fast food. cons: - not that polite server. sometimes food that smells like it has gone bad but the owner lady responded that nothing is wrong with the food. half of my experience, they put way too much sauce and way too less actual food. You expect you will have some chicken with sauce. But in reality, you have sauce that have tiny bits of chicken in it. I don't know why they do that. But I think they purposely scoop bunch of sauce to save actual food. It will be disappointing for you when you expected to eat some chicken. in that case, even I don't eat that much, I don't get full with the large size at all. I had to eat something else.

I've known this place for 5 years now. The food is yummy in my opinion, it is fast food, so don't expect five star restaurant quality or service. But at lunchtime the food is fresh and there is a great selection. We used to go here for lunch from work. I find it interesting that tourists say it is "so cheap", for us average Hungarians it isn't that cheap and the prices have gone up a lot over the past years, understandably. The staff have been the same over the last 5 years, they are fast and not friendly but not rude either. I love spicy food so I can recommend the spicy - sour soup and the 5 spice chicken with rice noodles. It has a gallery too, where you can eat alone or with friends, coworkers. My experience at Tao was unfortunately underwhelming, earning a two-star rating from me. Upon arrival, I was greeted with a rude reception, which set a disappointing tone for the meal ahead.

Despite visiting at 11 am, the options available were limited, leaving me with few choices. The meat dishes were drowned in sauce, overpowering any flavor the meat may have had and rendering them nearly inedible. Additionally, the meal itself lacked seasoning and was disappointingly bland. The chicken have been reheated in a microwave, resulting in a texture that was less than appetizing.

Overall, Tao fell short of expectations, with unappetizing food options and poor service leaving much to be desired. It’s a place I won’t be returning to...
