Matcha Tsuki — Restaurant in Budapest

The place was recommended in a Budapest brochure. I tried the ice cream in a mixture of Matcha and Sakura flavours. The ice cream was really good. The matcha one tastes very identical to the one I had in Japan. I was very pleased with it. So I recommend it. The Sakura flavour is very lovely too. Tough much sweater than the matcha flavour. The place itself is very nice decorated in Japanese style. The staff were lovely too. They also have plenty of other matcha products including cakes. Price wise 2 ice creams were 2500 HUF which was somehow reasonable considering they are good and tastes like in Japan. The cakes however seemed more on the pricer side. Next time in Budapest I’ll try one of them. I’d be curious how a matcha latte is at this place. Tried it in other places and it’s a completely fail as they don’t mix the matcha properly and it clumps together. So better be careful where you buy matcha drinks as not every place does a good job. They have wide range of matcha drinks and cofee. You can chose from many types of milk. But the matcha it self is not in the ceremonial quality to be honest. My boyfriend ordered matcha coconut smoothie and it tasted like a swamp. My strawberry matcha latte was better as it was more sweet. As you can see from the colour of the matcha, it is not in the best quality. So if you are really a matcha lover who drinks only ceremonial quality it is not for you. The Japanase would be ashamed of such a place. My matcha latte was 99% milk 1% matcha, and 0% espresso. The cupcake was tasteless and stale. The froyo is below average.

I've tried half the food on this mainstreet and my conclusion is this; the restaurants on the mainstreets lean on the fact that they have high visibility and have to do little to attract customers and so are extremely underwhelming on what they actually sell: FOOD!

PRO TIP: If you are from USA , East Asia, or anywhere where the food is actually good, you must search far and wide to find decent food because in Budapest the bad outweighs the good...
