This hotel is very easy to get too. If you get the 100 bus from the airport it’s less than a 2 minutes walk. ||Overall the hotel is great. We booked direct with the hotel as they had an offer on so it was cheaper than booking.com etc. ||When we first arrived we thought the hotel was very modern and to our style, when we went to check in. Neither of us could hear the staff, they were extremely quiet and we felt like we were deaf, I had to ask them to repeat themselves a few times on numerous occasions because of this. We did get to go to our room 2-3 hours before with no fee so that was great. ||We booked a cosy room and it was very spacious, bigger than we expected. However, there was some damage to some areas of the room near the toilet and shower. The bed was firm with very soft pillows. The shower is a glass door with a mirror opposite so if you are friends I hope you are close friends. ||The shutter on the window is a great plus, total black out to sleep in. We had no idea where the mini fridge was so would be nice to have a note where it is (if there is, we didn’t notice). No milk in the fridge or on the side for tea or coffee. ||A pointless sink in the toilet, no hand wash or anywhere for a hand towel so I felt disgusting after using the toilet. ||The app states you get a welcome drink, we asked about it and was told that’s wrong. It’s not at this hotel. We stated that it was our first ever couples holiday and first time coming to Budapest, we thought the hotel would of done something in the room like a note to say welcome or offered us something to buy before going to the hotel but we got nothing and nothing was offered. ||The hotel is a great location for walking further into the city, great food places nearby. We didn’t eat or drink at the sister hotel as it was slightly unclear on the prices. ||Overall it was okay and we used the hotel to sleep in and just to chill out for an hour before going out to explore again but I think the hotel just need to get the little touches right as they can make you feel cared about...
Read moreWe picked this hotel because our friends had already booked and we decided to join them on a trip to Budapest.|We don’t normally book a budget hotel and enjoy more facilities but this hotel was a nice surprise. I will do a pro and con list.|Pro, in nice area and walkable for those who enjoy being a bit active.|Clean room and bathroom.|Very nice coffee machine in lobby.|Provided iron and ironing board.|Hair dryer provided.|They don’t provide bottled water but that’s ok because that means thousands less plastic bottles but bring a refillable bottle because is safe to drink and very good.|Mini fridge was well stocked but expensive.|Cons, room very warm, no way to turn down, it was set at a certain temperature. We opened window which helped but too noisy at bedtime to leave open.|Coffee machine in room didn’t provide milk and first day only had one pod in room. I didn’t say anything to reception because the coffee in lobby was much better.|Bathroom had nowhere to |hang towels near sink, had to put them in sink.|No shelf in shower to put shower gel etc. ||They provide shower wash and shampoo in the pump containers but no conditioner or individual soap.|Booked a airport transfer through the hotel, very expensive compared to our return journey through a well known booking company who were very friendly unlike hotel car company, she didn’t speak to us and tried to charge a little extra than quoted.||This hotel does not have a bar or breakfast facilities, so remember that when you are budgeting.||I would recommend this hotel for a nice place to stay as it’s a very reasonable price for a stylish, clean hotel but facilities are basic.|We were quite surprised at checkout that the receptionist didn’t ask if we had a good stay or spoke to us other than the bill, and not much of a...
Read moreSolid hotel, we really enjoyed our 5 night stay at Hotel GIN whilst exploring Budapest. Customer service was excellent - a shout out to Viktor who was very helpful and polite! The room we chose was wonderful - modern and beautifully decorated (Grand room) and the rest of the hotel was equally tastefully finished and oozed quality. Loved the high ceilings and extra room it provided. Location was good, with the tram line and Kálvin Ter intersection just across the road. It was around a 15 - 20 minute walk to the centre of Budapest.
Some points we feel could be improved (hence the 4/5 star rating):
The mattress was EXTREMELY firm, to the point that it took 2 nights to get accustomed to. I’m used to a firm mattress at home as I occasionally suffer with a bad back, but this was something else. Wasn’t a fan of two single duvets either, we would have preferred just one.
Bath towels - the largest ones provided were too small and not the best quality, they felt pretty thin. On the topic of the bathroom, we felt it let the rest of the room down. The rainfall shower was great but the bathroom itself was tiny. Maximum one person at a time which made it trickier and slower to get ready.
A few other pointers… a couple of bottles of water FOC would have made a nice touch upon arrival. The minibar was very expensive. A little too repetitive / heavy on the pre stay marketing with emails where they try and get you to sign up to tours, experiences etc. Also I’m not a fan of checking in online (the main reason we chose to stay in a hotel over a cheaper apartment offering was to avoid all that nonsense) I must of had 3 - 4 emails reminding me to do this before arrival which I felt was completely...
