Katedrális étterem és kávézó — Restaurant in Szegedi járás

Here are my experience from 10th of September, 2022:

Positive: The food was great, very delicious. Arguably the most delicious restaurant I've tried in Szeged. I ordered Caesar salad with chicken, salmon with mashed potatoes, and pizza margarita. For drinks I had 2 mineral waters, and their homemade lemonade, which was great also. The ambience and view are unquestionably beautiful, as it is in the terrace of The Dome of Szeged. The waiters and waitresses spoke english quite well, and they are kind. It is most certainly not overpriced, especially compared to other aesthetic and tourist spot restaurants. This becomes even better coupled with the food tastes. Food portion was big, and thus, fulfilling. It didn't take long for them to serve it. You can ask to take home left over food. They have a high chair for your children if you need one!

Negative: Despite what I said above, the waiter that served me yesterday could've had a warmer attitude. They didn't pre-cut the pizza that I ordered, so I had to cut it myself. The website said they have a play area for kids (supposedly in the indoor part of the restaurant, which is underground), but I didn't seem to see it. The website also said that they have kids menu and I should ask it to the waiter for it. I did, and they didn't have.

In conclusion, I would've given 4.5 stars if possible, or 4 due to my personal-experience-related negative points, but my wife said she would've given a 5 star, so there you go. I hope my next visit would be a better...

Alright, so this review is going to be probably the most mixed one I've ever wrote for 4 stars. The location is prime, in the downtown basically under the famous church of Szeged city. I really liked the interior design, how they incorporated the foundation of the old church into the floor. On the other hand, getting around in high-heels is way harder; it's truly dangerous as the surface is uneven. For entry you need to go downstairs - bear in mind, ladies. In terms of good and drinks: the drink selection is nice, though I have to add that the quality of wine served here doesn't match the quality of wine served for the same price in Portugal. Different regions etc., so this is understandable as well - not in terms of the prices though. Well, the food looked nice, tasted average sadly. Did expect way more from this place actually! Some of them were a bit overcooked and some lacked flavours. Serving staff was nice, however there was one chain smoker obese lady who kept coming out of the kitchen to smoke in front of the establishment. Her behavior and her unhealthy look (no hair-net etc) spoiled our dessert unfortunately. I don't usually write things like this. I hope this place improves, it has so much...

The place is great, so as the atmosphere. The food is delicious, with the right amount of portions. Serving and the staff helpful and kind.

They could improve the translation of the menu, and be a bit more precise on what are the actual food names mean. You can't look them up as well because there is no reception underground. There is WiFi probably but the password was nowhere to be found, and we didn't bother asking.
