This charming family run B&B nestled in the oldest town in Amalfi was the first stop on our honeymoon. We really felt at home here. On the first day, we arrived in Naples and traveled by bus onwards to Scala. Take the pintour bus (pintourbus.com and book your tickets prior to avoid having to wait for the next bus and take your chance). We alighted at Atrani for lunch instead of going directly to Scala and wound up a bit stranded due to traffic on the day, but Walter had his brother Lorenzo, help us out with a ride onwards to the B&B. That was a huge help!||||The breakfasts are absolutely amazing - the best we experienced in Italy. They had a beautiful spread of freshly baked treats every morning from Elda. The entire family was really helpful in planning our day to neighboring Ravello, which was an easy 30 minute walk downhill. Dinners at the B&B was also delicious and we always looked forward to the freshly baked pizza bread starters. Overally, we had a wonderful and charming stay and we would recommend Il Pinguino to anyone visiting the area.||||The rooms while basic are extremely comfortable and clean. Transport wise, although we did not rent a vehicle for our trip, every town is easily accessible by Sita bus and there is a bus stop immediately outside this B&B. In terms of location, Scala is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Amalfi and is located highest from the other towns. Neighboring Ravello is the closest (around 30 mins walk) and a walk downhill through various steps to. From Amalfi – one can visit towns such as Praiano and Positano as well or even go to Sorrento (which was where we went after 3 days in Scala).||||What we loved most about our stay at Il Pinguino, was how at home we felt here and how whilst quiet, this town was yet so close to the more popular towns in Amalfi (Maiori, Minori, Atrani, Amalfi, Ravello) via public transportation.
