The Spice Route — Restaurant in Assam

I visit this place with family, friends and guest around the world as the food has been good and ambiance is fine. However, 7 June 2015 was a bad day to visit for me and my wife and for the restaurant. Did not like the food we ordered (Prawn with mushrom and bamboo shoot in Thai coconut curry, and Mandrian Fish) and above that while eating we found a baby cockroach in the food. We requested the waiter to take the food off. They obliged and offered to prepare the food again. The gesture was welcomed but we declined as they might be using the same stock from where the unwanted animal originated.

We ordered a more spicy Prawn tempura as we wanted to fill ourselves. We finished our food without and the manager even did not come to say an apology, Alas.

We asked for the bill, and you will not believe. We found that they charged us for the "prawn with cockroach" too. I was really unhappy and immediately decided to write this review which otherwise I would not have spent my time.

We asked for the Manager and politely but in strictest words talked to the Manager (who was not aware of the incident!!). We asked him about the rules on the earth in eateries (after travelling across several countries) where someone charges for food that contains aliens (cockroach here) forget about weaving our bills or complementary dish. Given this experience, we have decided not to revisit this place again in future.

We are sure the Food inspector in Guwahati has never visited to this place to verify if they are maintaining floor hygiene and cleanliness. This is our bad experience.

Avoid this place given the long list of eateries in Guwahati today.

Today on Christmas eve my parents went to dine in this resturant for lunch....in the evening the invoice receipt suddenly cought my notice which they were alomost going to throw in the bin.... there was 10% Service Charge claimed on the bill which my parents were completely unaware of and resturant staffs didn't conveyed this also before billing. What is this Service Charge claimed for? Is not this your work to take our orders and bring the dishes to the table? Or are we supposed to head directly to your kitchen and take the dishes right out of the oven by ourselves only?? You are not selling your service there, you are selling your food. On multiple occasion Consumer Forum, Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission, State High Courts have given judgement that no hotel or resturant can claim Service Charge on customers. Your complete disregard to the verdict of the various comsumer forums is astonishing. Ironically your staffs didn't even serve the food from the pots to their plates. If you want to get sick with, vomiting, diarrhea and salmonella then spice route is the best place to go, the waiter takes your order and forgets to pass it on the kitchen , and senior managers do not supervise their staff, How could they not realize that me and my family were simply sitting at the table with a glass of water !! hence after 40 minutes when you realise they haven't served the food you will have to approach the waiter, they proceeded to promptly giving us raw uncooked chicken and many other dishes that were not cooked too since I had to get up from my seat and talk to them, shayad time nahi tha banane ka toh dusra bacha hua khana hamare plate me daal diya and then the owner whom i questioned ran away and did not have the courtesy to talk to me or even apologize, well he was busy drinking in his establishment with what looked like a marwari guy, ofcourse they have eaten all of our business and think of us as second class citizens!I.
