If a combination of quick service and delicious food had a name, it would definitely be BAO Bangalore!
I visited with my sister and we ordered Chicken 65 Bao, Chicken Chilli Oil Dumplings, Datsy Gravy Noodles, and a Tiramisu - all for just ₹800!
The Chicken 65 Bao was a single, generously sized bao packed with flavour. The creamy sauce was absolutely top-notch, the filling also had cucumber, pickled radish, and crispy fried onions - all with perfect taste individually but when put together in a single bite, it tasted amazing.
The Chicken Chilli Oil Dumplings came with 5-6 medium-sized pieces. They tasted incredible when properly dipped in the rich chilli oil - spicy, savoury, and satisfying.
The Datsy Gravy Noodles were decent. The noodles were long, perfectly cooked (not mushy), and had a good texture. However, as a complete dish, it didn’t impress me as much - it seemed quite bland. I was expecting a more flavourful gravy, but I guess you can opt for the Spicy Datsy Gravy Noodles for some heat. I’d rate it around 3/5. That said, the portion was heavy enough to serve as a full meal for one.
They also served a complimentary broth, which was surprisingly flavourful - warm, comforting, and delicious.
The place is quite small, with just four tables. So you may have to wait for a seat. But here’s the best part - unlike many other places, you can place your order even if you don’t have a table yet. The service is super fast - we got our entire order in just 8 minutes!!!
All food is served in takeaway boxes, which is convenient. Many people either eat in their car or stand outside. The place has a fast-moving crowd - people eat quickly and leave, making space for the next set of diners. Despite the rush, the space is very clean and well-maintained.
I was genuinely surprised by how quickly they served us. The food is delicious, the pricing is affordable, and the experience overall was smooth and satisfying. I will definitely...
Read moreWe visited on a Monday evening at peak hour.
We had put in our order as soon as we got there and waited for a table.
First point to note is that the lady taking the order could have been more helpful in guiding us on what to order since we told her its our first visit but she didn’t bother.
Second point was for a place serving Bao and Buns which are mostly thing u have to eat with your hands, the place has no handwash facility thus inviting germs.
The Table system is very haphazard and needs a lot of improvement.
We ordered two Datsi Baos , One Veg Jhol Momo and Pinacolada.
The Datsi Baos were good in taste on preliminary reactions, but the baos were too thick leading to a very bland aftertaste.
The Baos, i would prefer of Nevermind which is located down the street.
Coming to the Jhol Momos, The jhol was good and fresh but the momo was ordinary and nothing to savour about, some of the street and frozen momos have better filing in them.
Now finally coming onto the disaster of the day.
Roasted Pinacolada- This dish had good taste but if in a 250 ml glass, u stuff 30 percent whipped cream , and 60 percent ice and just 10 percent of actual pinacolada, then u better not charge 180 for it as it seems like daylight robbery.
When i approached the owner and the head chef mahendra about this, he was not accepting of the fact that this is wrong and rudely said that this is how its supposed to be.
As a person who has consumed pinacolada numerous times, I DISAGREE.
Coming to the pricing, the Jhol Momos were overly priced at 167. Pinacolada was a daylight robbery and Baos were rightly priced but require more taste.
Overall can try if u like restaurant owners with a little attitude and lack of respect for...
Read moreToday I had the pleasure of dining at Bao Bangalore, an Asian restaurant located in Indiranagar.
To begin our culinary journey, we ordered the Chicken Steamed Momos as an appetizer. The momos were perfectly steamed, with a thin and delicate outer covering that encased the flavorful minced chicken filling.
For the main course, we opted for the Chicken Nepalese Spicy Noodles. This dish was a true delight for the senses. The noodles were cooked to perfection—al dente and packed with flavor. The chicken was tender and succulent, and the vegetables added a fresh and crunchy element to the dish. The spiciness of the noodles was well-balanced, providing a kick without overpowering the other flavors.
Next up was the Fish Thai Curry Sauce Bao. This dish was a fusion of Asian cuisines and truly exemplified the innovative spirit of the restaurant. The bao bun was light and fluffy, serving as the perfect vessel for the succulent fish cooked in a curry sauce. It was a unique and memorable dish that showcased the restaurant's creativity and culinary prowess.
To end our meal on a sweet note, we indulged in the Chocolate Tres Leches dessert. It was the perfect conclusion to our meal, leaving us feeling satisfied and content.
Overall, my experience at Bao Bangalore was exceptional. The restaurant offers a diverse menu that seamlessly blends flavors from various Asian cuisines, and each dish is executed with finesse. The attentive service, pleasant ambiance, and attention to detail further enhanced the dining experience. Whether you're a fan of classic Asian dishes or adventurous fusion creations, Bao Bangalore is a must-visit destination for any food lover. I cannot wait to return and explore more of their...
