Another Friday lunch with the office bunch, took us back to Indra Nagar. And this time as usual, we decided to decide the place to dine on our way. After a couple of suggestions thrown in, each rejecting most of other’s ideas, someone has to step in & take a call.
I took the call & stopped at Lazy Suzy, this time. It’s strange that I have gone past Lazy Suzy, a million times on my commute to work, & not once I decide to enter. I have always wanted to try them over the past several years in Bangalore, maybe because of some mixed reviews on social media.
But I just realised, what a mistake it had been, not to have visited them much, much, much, earlier.
The ambience is airy, sunny with bright interiors, with an option of (covered) outdoor seating or an air conditioned indoor seating.
After browsing through the menu, we quickly decide upon a Tomato Basil Soup & 3 main courses to share. One of the main course included a Salad, which was such an conflict (to healthy eating) since the other two main courses were a Vegetarian Pizza & Lasagna.
The two potions of the tomato basil soup that we ordered were neatly made into 3 individual portions on request. Strong tomato flavours, with a mild basil hit, made the soup a superstar & I slurped the bowl in minutes.
This made us eager for what’s to come, & all arrived quiet swiftly. The Mesclun Salad with sweet beets, orange jullianes, & walnuts on a bed of lettuce & other greens, looked fabulous. It was definitely Instagram worthy, & tasted yum. The sweetness of beets were beautifully balanced by the acidic orange with the walnuts & greens adding the perfect crunch to the salad. Loved every bite & crunch.
The thin crust pizza was loaded with veggies, the artichoke & broccoli were cooked perfectly with just the right amount of cheese without an overload. Two slices each & we still felt light.
That’s when the lasagna came in. Since the mains were served together, we requested to warm up the slightly lukewarm lasagna, which they happily obliged. I loved the way their portioned the lasagne & served it equally to all the three of us. I have always believed that lasagne was meant to be a vegetarian delight, because the veg versions have always been tastier than the non-vegetarian counterparts. The one served in Lazy Suzy is no exception. The lasagne tasted super awesome, again with the right amount of cheese without much of the usual greasiness in some of the other restaurants.
After such a heavy meal, we still felt light & had enough room for two desserts to share.
We ordered the classic Tiramisu, that was served in a not so classic martini glass, and a portion of Triple Chocolate delight. The triple chocolate had a log of white chocolate heart, covered in a milk chocolate cake with an overpowering dark chocolate ganache. It was warm, crumbly, and tasted so yumm that we almost forgot the Tiramisu & how good that was.
One awesome soup, three wonderful mains & two great desserts, we felt either we have accidentally ordered their best dishes from the menu, or every dish here’s tasted as great as what we had just sampled. We made sure to find out by visit again with our respective families in the near future. Thanks Lazy Suzy for making us feel so good, it’s a great meal we have...
Read moreWe had a great experience the first time we had been to Lazy Suzy, we assumed we'll have the experience the second time and it was a total disaster.
I have a mixed feeling about this one!
The ambience is of course very well done. With the old rustic feel and a homely atmosphere coupled with warm light - both natural and lit - you at once feel relaxed and forget the traffic woes and the noise outside. The seating too - available on ground and first floor - is quite spacious and well planned. There’s creative art and decors on the walls and you can see cats in most of those.
The food was good! The lasagne is wonderful and so is the pasta! The place also serves great burgers (crunchy spicy is really good!!) which was quite a surprise. The main course has some amazing options - the lamb Salisbury stake and chimichurri roasted chicken in this section are delightful. The fish fingers unfortunately were below par but the other dishes were great. The place also serves fantastic hot chocolate and some delightful desserts! Surely you have to try the cheesecakes and chocolate mollet. The food is well prepared and beautifully presented and it’s a joy to experience.
There’s also a host of other options like salads to try from and surely based on what we tried, it’s all going to be good and wholesome. There’s quite a large section on beverages to choose from too!
While the serving portions were good and filling, and the food has the flavor and right texture, I did feel the price was a bit on the higher side. This is probably a subjective observation.
I did feel the service was a bit on the slower side - takes close to 30 min depending on how busy the place is but the servers are polite and courteous. Overall though, a lovely lovely place to come and spend quality time with family or friends or even on a date (there’s a cozy , naturally gardened up spot that looked quite romantic on the top floor with table for 4) and it’s a place that will allow you to have a good conversation without feeling rushed and all this while enjoying some delicious cuisine.
PS: The parking can be quite a challenge and you need to find a good spot roadside...
