I recently visited Burma Burma at the newly opened Phoenix Mall of Asia in Bangalore, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. Known for its vegetarian Burmese fare, the restaurant offers a mix of traditional flavors with a modern twist, and every dish we tried had something unique to offer.
We started with the Sun-Dried Bamboo and Noodles Soup. The noodles were impressively thin and carried the soup's flavor beautifully—light yet incredibly flavorful. It was a warm, comforting start to our meal.
Next up was Uncle Maung’s Chilli Garlic Street Noodles, served with a refreshing lemon wedge, fried garlic, crispy onions, and salted peanuts. The mix of textures and the bold garlic-chilli flavor made this dish an instant favorite—spicy, crunchy, and deeply satisfying.
Our third dish was the Split Gill Mushroom Fried Rice, paired with a tangy Burmese-style tomato chutney. The mushrooms added an earthy richness, and the chutney elevated the dish with its zesty notes. This combination was probably the highlight of our meal.
Although we were quite full, the dessert menu was too tempting to ignore. We indulged in two standout sweets:
Rangoon Baked Milk – A sophisticated dessert featuring house-baked milk with a layer of vanilla whipped ganache, raspberry gel, a piece of fried brioche, and almond bougatine. It was creamy, subtly sweet, and beautifully balanced.
2.Street Style Burmese Falooda – This chilled treat with coconut milk, sweet bread, basil seeds, black grass jelly, and sticky rice offered a refreshing and nostalgic finish to our meal, perfect for cooling down after the spicy mains.
Overall, Burma Burma delivered a memorable culinary experience. The service was attentive, the ambiance stylish yet comfortable, and the food inventive while staying true to Burmese roots. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore flavors beyond the usual, especially in a...
Read more5 stars for food as usual but service at this outlet was quite disappointing! I usually go to the Indiranagar outlet often and the experience has always been great. Here the staff seem very pleasant at the beginning but their attitude changes towards the end. We ordered the Lotus stem chips which always come with a condiment. Since we couldn't finish all the food, we requested Mr. Manoj not once or twice but thrice to include the condiment while packing the food for takeaway. To our disappointment when we opened the package back at home, the dip wasn't in there. I understand what the possible reason for that miss could be. At the end of our meal, we requested him to remove the service charge ( which btw legally is completely optional and to pay or not is entirely up to the customer, no pressure) to which he frowned at us and walked away. He came back with the revised bill and simply threw it into the box in front of us. Restaurant owners please take note of this. You must train your staff to handle customers politely. The food here is priced premium and adding 10 percent service charge shoots up the bill value tremendously. I am paying for the food I order and that's about it. You must pay your staff and they shouldn't be expecting to be paid a tip by every customer. It's important that restaurant owners set the right expectations with their staff and train them better. The guy did not pack a small condiment alongside, despite us requesting several times just because we refused to pay him 250 bucks as a tip. We didn't wanna report it there and cause a scene at night so I decided to write down this honest review. Hope it helps another...
Read moreWe went there for lunch.
For starters, we ordered Grilled mock meat skewers with dip which tasted really good with the dip. They blend each other very well Crunchy shiitake fingers also came with dip. It was crispy and was good. But some of us didn't like the dip.
For main course, we ordered Kaya oh/shiitake and pok chot Burmese ramen which was soupy and came with a side paste. The taste of the the ramen was good, but didn't like the after taste which we got from it and the paste was not good. Grilled sticky rice- tangy vegetables which we did not like at all. Burmese fried rice which tasted good but was nothing special. Felt like it had a slight taste of lemon rice. But did not see that as an ingredient in their menu thought. Panthay khowsuey/china town noodles was the best dish which we ate there among all the other dish. I would recommend this noodles.
We also ordered kaffir lime cooler which was really good. We did order a pitcher so that all of us could take a fair share.
For dessert, we ordered rangoon baked milk. They garnish it with Nitro Frozen rose petals and the garnish it on the table. They were really good and those who like milk based desserts would love it.
They also keep four chutney kind of paste. Should try them. It's all has different flavour. We did like 3 of them.
Overall food experiance was good. But the food was really expensive.
We went there on a weekend and around 3-4 pm and there were plenty of vacant seats and no waiting time. May be because of the time. Their service was really good and their behaviour was very welcoming. The ambiance was also good for a fine dining.
Would recommend highly for...
