Amazing ambience, whoever designed the place has done amazing job. 5 star for ambience alone -tastefully done place with dim but enough lighting, brick walls.
Restaurant was not crowded, they had outside seating arrangement and waiting area as well. When we went it was like walk in and sit, only 3 tables were occupied.
The service was extremely poor. After waiting 20 minutes, they realized our order had never made it into the system, while everyone who arrived after us was already being served. The waiter came over, took the order again without offering a formal apology, and left. Throughout this, the owner stood by the counter but didn't acknowledge the situation or offer any apology or solution. At the very least, the owner could have approached us, apologized, and offered something like a pappad to ease the wait until the food arrived. Another 20 minutes passed before our food was finally served. As we left, the owner mentioned that staffing issues were to blame, though the real problem was with the system. Had he communicated this earlier by coming to our table when the issue happened, it would have made all the difference. Also the waiter who was serving our food was dropping food all over the table -if restaurant is fine dining then they could have trained all their waiters also well - I felt customer service is nil not sure how restaurant got so many good reviews.
Overall food was average - Payyoli chicken fry was really good with juicy chicken with a slight fried layer on top and chicken Dum Biriyani also was good - long flavoured rice with mild masala. Broccoli Kaju kebab was unique ingredients - chicken kebab with broccoli and kaju spread on the top but taste wise it was average. Baby corn ghee roast was ok, ghee taste was standing out but chilli taste felt little raw and they could have made the dish little more roasted, instead it came a little too much masala form. This also was average. Overall food is average and quantity was less for its price. Pricing is at higher end which is anyway expected.
Parking is roadside parking, it was ok but crowded.
Overall not a welcoming experience neither food is that inviting to go there again. But considering ambience, place can be a hit if customer service and menu is upgraded to meet the rate of food and ambience. For now, I will...
Read moreWe recently dined at Cevi to explore their Konkan specialties, and the experience was a memorable one. The food was outstanding, especially the seafood, which was fresh and full of flavor. The service was warm and attentive, though we did have to wait around twenty minutes despite having a booking, which was the only downside of the evening.
We began with the starters, and each dish was a treat on its own. The chicken and prawn ghee roasts were rich, indulgent, and packed with flavor, with the generous use of ghee enhancing the spice mix beautifully. The seer fish rava fry was another highlight—crispy on the outside and tender inside, it perfectly showcased the freshness of the seafood. The kundapura mutton roast was hearty and aromatic, with the meat cooked to tender perfection and coated in a robust masala.
Moving on to the mains, the neer dosai was soft, light, and a perfect pairing for the gravies. The kori roti was authentic and crisp, soaking up the curries wonderfully. The chicken pulimunchi was a standout, offering a tangy, spicy punch that was both vibrant and comforting. The Goan fish curry was equally impressive, with a rich, well-balanced flavor that worked beautifully with the fresh fish.
To end the meal, we tried the rose milk tres leches, which was refreshing and light. The subtle rose flavor gave a unique twist to the classic dessert, rounding off the meal on a sweet note.
Overall, Cevi is a fantastic destination for anyone who loves authentic coastal flavors. Despite the brief wait, the combination of fresh seafood, flavorful preparations, and attentive service made it well worth the visit. We would definitely go back to try more of their...
Read moreWe recently visited Cevi for lunch, and finding a table was easy as it wasn’t too crowded. The menu offered a familiar mix of North and South Indian cuisine. The ambience was appealing, with comfortable seating and both indoor and outdoor dining options.
As for the food, it was a mixed experience.
Chicken Tangy Gongura was a disappointment, lacking flavor even after it was remade (2/5).
Crab Rasam, however, was flavorful and enjoyable (4/5)
Chicken Saagwala had a rich, thick gravy and well-cooked chicken (4/5).
Mutton Vindaloo, although decent, could have had a stronger flavor (3/5).
We paired these dishes with Ghee Rice (4/5) and Basmati Rice, the latter being a perfect complement to the gravies (5/5).
Among the drinks, the Tropical Pineapple Twist stood out with a refreshing and real pineapple taste (5/5)
Kiwi and Green Apple Spritzer, Guava Chilli Martini, and Virgin Mojito were all satisfying (4/5 each).
The service was just average—there wasn’t much help with recommendations. On the bright side, the owner was open to feedback, discussing ways to improve the dining experience. The chef could use some additional training, particularly for certain dishes.
Overall, Cevi is a new place with potential, and I believe it will improve with time. Best of luck to the...
