I had the misfortune of witnessing the demise of my go-to place for delicious burgers.
Since the first time I dined at a Chilis outlet in Mumbai 7 years ago, I have been a fan of its delicious burgers and hospitality. From the Hiranandani and Malad outlets in Mumbai to the one at Banjara hills in Hyderabad, my order has always been the same: A Veg Southwest Burger (the Veg Big Mouth as they call it) and a Chilli Mango mocktail.
So when my wife and I were all dressed up to relive those memories at the sole Chilis outlet in Bengaluru, we were super pumped for a delicious and fulfilling Sunday dinner. The added bonus was that this outlet also serves alcohol. Our expectations went down the drain painfully as the evening progressed.
The mango flavoured long island ice tea was served in a beer mug with half of it stuffed with ice. I could neither taste ice tea nor could I differentiate between the various spirits that typically make up a Long Island Ice tea. It was an unpleasant mixture of Mango with some alcohol.
My wife faced a different disappointment with her Red Wine Sangria. It lacked the flavours that you come to expect from Sangria.
On to the food, I ordered the good old Veg Southwestern burger. The patty was nothing like I had tasted in the past, and not in a good way. It was heavy on garlic and had the consistency of a Wada of a Wada Pav. The fries that accompanied it were the only decent thing on the plate.
I have to talk about hospitality! In all the past Chilis outlets that I have been to, we used to have a dedicated personnel for every table who used to make sure that the food was cooked to the utmost perfection and expectation of the guests. Towards the end, we used to be more than happy to pay the mandatory service charge (more than 10 percent of the bill). That was sadly not the experience that we had here. Not only was there no dedicated personnel for our table, when I raised a complaint on my drink to our server he promised to send someone for the same but nobody cared to come back.
The only thing unchanged in my experience was the service charge on the bill.
With a heavy heart I bid adieu to Chilis on that evening because I cannot let any more unpleasant experiences wash away all the good memories that I have...

From the second we were seated, Rasmita greeted us with a warm, genuine smile and a presence that instantly made us feel welcome. She radiates kindness and professionalism in everything she does. It was clear from the start that she takes immense pride in her role, and her dedication to delivering exceptional service is something truly rare.
What impressed us most was her attentiveness without ever being overbearing. She struck the perfect balance — always available when needed, yet giving us space to enjoy our time. Rasmita checked in just the right number of times, refilled drinks promptly, and remembered small details from our conversation, showing how truly attentive and caring she is.
Her menu knowledge was outstanding. She confidently guided us through our choices, made excellent recommendations tailored to our tastes, and ensured that everything was prepared just the way we wanted. When there were special requests or dietary needs, she handled them with absolute grace and care.
But beyond the technical skills, it was Rasmita’s genuine warmth, positive attitude, and passion for customer care that left the deepest impression. It felt like being served by a friend who truly wanted us to have the best possible experience.
In a world where great service can be hard to find, Rasmita is a shining example of what true hospitality looks like. Her energy elevated our visit and left us smiling long after we left the restaurant.

Read moreBeen to this outlet for having a lunch with my team. The ambience of the restaurant was pretty good. Well maintained. Coming to the food, we had Mix and Match Fajita with grilled chicken and grilled shrimp combination. Had triple dipper in starter. Sea breeze in beverages. Chocolate Molten Cake in dessert. All the items were pretty good in taste and well presented. And served at perfect temperature. Pretty happy with the food. Coming to the service, it was bit slow. Had a good time.
