Quite an experience it was when I landed here with a bunch of fellow foodies for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Located in the vicinity of the city within the Gopalan mall, this place showcases a good blend of retro and the modern era. Fairly spacious with good seating arrangement, the modern decor along with the photos and posters of some of the old classic cinema adds to its ambience.
Our menu was as follows: Veg Starters 1.Cajun spiced potato- rich and creamy with just the right amount of spice and heat, bang on flavour. Loved it! 2.Masala garlic bread- had a bite and it tasted good. 3.Tandoori mushrooms- decent enough but compared to the other appetizers did not shine. 4.Crispy Corn- the top pick of all the appetizers. Beautifully seasoned and crispy and went well with the drinks. 5.Ajwaini paneer tikka- spice marinate was good but paneer could have been a little softer. 6.Tandoori pineapple- it was okay for me as I am not a big fan of pineapple 7.Vodka pani puri- presentation was fancy and the kick of the vodka was way more than expected.
Pizza Veg meloni- Thin crust with loads of cheese. Could taste the freshness of the toppings. Super like ! Chicken tikka pizza- decent taste, the taste of the chicken was hard to find.
Non-veg starter 1.Punjabi tangdi-tender and juicy drumsticks with perfect Punjabi spice blend 2.Pudina mutton sheekh- My favourite of all appetizers. The soft and moist meat with not too much of spice and hint of the pudina. It was one of the best sheekh kababs I ever had. 3.Wings on Hot pepper- the pepper was bit on a higher side for me but the chicken was well cooked. 4.Prawns chilly-small sized prawns tasted soft and full of flavours. 5.Mutton pepper-tender and spicy with the sukha masala.
Drinks Lots of variety here.Of all the drinks we ordered I really liked the Kabbina Kobbu, Mai tai and Cinderella.
Main Course There was a lot of choice here for both the veg and non-veg as there was paneer do pyaza, baby corn masala, rajma masala, aloo baingan dry,dal meloni, noodles, fried rice and biryani, mutton rogan josh, fish saagwala, methi chicken. The standout dishes according to me were the Methi chicken and egg salad.
Desserts It included Fruit barfi,Assorted pastry,Fruit custard,Rum balls,Shahi Tukda,Ice creams, Choco Brownie The top picks here were the Mini Gulab Jamun- Soft, hot, soothing and bursting with flavour. Simply tasted amazing(especially with the vanilla ice-cream) Choco Brownie-Intense chocolate flavour with hint of bitterness. Fruit custard- Smooth and light and not too sweet. Folks with not a big sweet tooth can go for it.
Overall it was a deeply satisfying lunch experience. The service was quick and prompt. Staff was very friendly and polite. This place has something to offer to folks of all kinds of palate with a wide buffet and bar menu along with live chat, pasta and ice-cream stations, all this at a very reasonable price. This place is a complete...
Read moreDeja vu is a buffet restaurant located near Kalyani Magnum. They have got some amazing drinks too. They serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian here. You get a variety of dishes for a good price here.
They have the following items in a vegetarian buffet:
Soup: Spicy corn soup: A very simple yet delicious soup. It is called spicy but it isnt that spicy. It is suitable for kids and people with low tolerance on spicy food as well
Starters: Peshawari Paneer Tikka, Babycorn Manchurian, Smoke Mushroom (grill), Cajun spicy baby potato and crispy corn.
Paneer was really tender and creamy and was very well cooked in Tandoor. It was also marinated really well. Babycorn Manchurian was saucy and tangy and was great in taste. Grilled mushrooms were really amazing. They were coated with a spicy layer and it was really flavourful. Cajun spicy baby potatoes were not that spicy but they are one of a kind. Do not miss out on this. Crispy corn was good too.
Main course: Paneer Jalfrezi, Kadai Veg, Chana Masala, Aloo Bhindi dry, Dal Makhani, Veg Dum Biryani, Corn Pulao, Veg Schezwan Fried Rice, Hakka noodles, Steamed rice, Rasam, Curd rice and white sauce Pasta.
All the curries were amazing and they tasted really good with Naan and other breads. According to me Aloo Bhindi curry was the best. All the rice items were good but being a South Indian , I first went to the section with Rasam , rice and Curd rice and they were so good. It was just like what mom makes at home. Corn Pulao was a little oily and was average in taste. Schezwan fried rice wasn't tangy enough for me but the rice was cooked to perfection and there was lot of veggies in it. Hakka noodles were good too. White sauce Pasta was really amazing. It was better than most of the Italian restaurants. They also had a huge range of salads and cut fruits.
Desserts: Mini Gulab Jamun, Moong Dal Halwa, Badusha, Pastry, Fruit custard, Chocolate Brownie, Tiramisu, Carrot cake, cut fruits and ice cream.
All the desserts were too cute and pretty to look at. I tried only some of these desserts and liked most of them. They have a Paan flavoured ice cream which was really amazing. all the Pastries were soft and fresh. I really loved Tiramisu and Gulab Jamun.
They also had a Chaat section where I tried Dahi Puri and Pani Puri. They were really good too.
Drinks: This is the best part. I tried around four drinks and loved all of them. They present them so well! Virgin Panipuri wala and Achcha Bachcha are Must Tries here.
Overall, I loved the service. The food was hot and fresh and they refilled the containers every now and then. The food here isn't spicy at all. It is a really good option for kids. And if you are looking for buffets at affordable prices, with good food, I suggest you to try this place out. They have a lot of items for a really good price. I would rate a 4/5 for ambience, taste of the food and presentation...
