MyKos, Bengaluru: A Stylish Greek Setting for Upscale Mediterranean Fare (Great Service, Pricey Portions)

Mykos in Bengaluru offers a taste of the Mediterranean in a stylish and modern setting. Here's a breakdown of my experience:

Ambiance

Pre-booking recommended Myos gets crowded, so booking a table in advance is a wise move

Smoking and Non-Smoking Zones

While they have designated smoking and non-smoking areas, the separation might not be very effective for everyone.

Greek Inspiration

The restaurant boasts a well-crafted aesthetic, with a modern take on Greek architecture. It's definitely Instagram-worthy!

A Detail Missed

One slight disappointment was the missing "lucky coin" for the fountain, as shown in some online videos.

Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff

The staff at Myos are very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They were happy to answer questions and provide recommendations. The service itself was excellent.

Beverage Counter

Myos has a dedicated beverage counter where you can enjoy a variety of drinks.

Food Review

Prawn Har Gao I started with the prawn har gao, and it was excellent. The dumplings were extremely delicate and bursting with flavor.

Lamb Moussaka For the main course, I opted for the lamb moussaka. If you're an eggplant fan, you'll love this dish. The lamb was well-cooked, and the cheesy layer added a delightful richness.

Scarlet Surprises My drink choice was the "Scarlet Surprises." This is a mocktail that combines cranberry juice, lime, and a touch of sweetness. It was refreshing and perfectly complemented the food.

Matcha Cake (Disappointing) As a matcha enthusiast, I was eager to try the matcha cake for dessert. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The cake had a rough, sugary texture that overpowered the matcha flavor.

Price Point

My overall bill came to ₹1600 per person, which is on the higher end. While the food quality and service are good, the portion sizes might not justify the price for everyone.

Myos offers a stylish ambiance, friendly service, and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. However, the high price point and slightly disappointing matcha cake might deter some budget-conscious diners or those with specific dessert preferences.

Recommendation

Pre-book your table to avoid disappointment. Consider asking about portion sizes before ordering, especially if you're on a budget. If you're a matcha purist, you might want to skip the matcha cake and explore other dessert options. Mykos is a great choice for a special occasion or if you're looking for a trendy spot with upscale Mediterranean fare. However, be prepared for a higher price tag.

Top Three Reasons to Visit Mykos:

Greek-Inspired Ambience: Beautiful rooftop setup with white interiors, cozy lighting, and a unique wishing pond concept.

Refreshing Beers on Tap: Geist beers with a variety of options and knowledgeable staff to guide you.

Delicious Food: Thin-crust Veggie Overload pizza and Manchow soup stand out as favorites.

Detailed Experience:

Visited Mykos for a family dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The transformation of the previously housed 'Yellow Submarine' brewery into a Greek-inspired rooftop restaurant is commendable. The serene white interiors, cozy lighting with gas torches, and the addition of a water body create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The unique wishing pond, where you can toss a coin and make a wish, added a special touch to the evening. From the rooftop, you get a stunning view of Bengaluru, which makes the experience even more delightful.

The beers on tap, served from Geist, were refreshing and enjoyable. The staff demonstrated good knowledge of the varieties, enhancing the overall experience.

The food was delicious, meeting expectations in both taste and presentation. Highlights included the thin-crust Veggie Overload pizza, baked to perfection, and the comforting Manchow soup, perfect for Bengaluru's cool breeze. We also enjoyed the cheese dumplings and Paneer Tikka. However, one point of feedback is the limited variety for vegetarians. While the dishes were satisfying, the menu could benefit from some unique and exclusive options for vegetarians.

Service was commendable, with attentive and helpful staff ensuring a smooth dining experience.

Overall, Mykos offers a fantastic dining experience with great vibes, refreshing drinks, and delicious food, though a little more variety for vegetarians would elevate the experience further.

Mykos Restaurant beautifully brings alive the essence of Greek culture through its food, ambiance, and overall dining experience, creating a space where guests can immerse themselves in the spirit of Greece without leaving the city. The interiors often reflect Mediterranean aesthetics with earthy tones, white and blue accents, and décor elements that resemble traditional Greek architecture, instantly transporting diners to the sun-kissed islands of Santorini or Crete. The menu celebrates the richness of Greek cuisine, featuring iconic dishes like fresh salads with olives and feta, grilled meats, seafood prepared with herbs, and classic dips such as tzatziki and hummus, all crafted with olive oil, fresh vegetables, and authentic spices that highlight the simplicity and wholesomeness of Greek food culture. Sharing is an important part of Greek dining, and Mykos captures this by offering mezze-style platters that encourage togetherness, echoing the Greek tradition of bonding over meals with family and friends. The emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients also reflects Greece’s farm-to-table philosophy, while the wine and beverage selection often includes Mediterranean-inspired choices that enhance the authenticity of the experience. Beyond food, the warm hospitality extended by the staff resonates with the famous Greek concept of philoxenia—the love of strangers—where every guest is treated with warmth, respect, and generosity. Soft background music inspired by Greek melodies and the overall relaxed, celebratory atmosphere further add to the cultural immersion. By blending culinary authenticity with cultural symbols, Mykos not only serves delicious Greek dishes but also showcases the values of togetherness, warmth, and joy that are at the heart of Greek culture, making every visit feel like a journey to...
