Read moreOne of the most pathetic Glen’s we have been to recently. We went there for breakfast and ordered pancakes with caramelised banana and maple syrup and such a simple and basic dish for a bake house was a disaster. The pancakes were doughy and absolutely tasteless They served literally 3 small pieces of banana with 4 decently sized pancakes which is absolutely nonsensical. Forget about having a piece of banana with each bite, you don’t even get it with one bite per pancake The bananas were not actually caramelised but dipped in caramel in world’s smallest dish possible When we told them these are not caramelised bananas the server without saying a word left with the bowl and came back after 5 mins with the same bowl except for this time it was burning hot bra Ayer they had heated it in microwave. So now it was cooked bananas in burnt sugar syrup. After this stunt which they pulled together with a lot of confidence I expressed the desire to speak with the restaurant manager or chef. The manager came after a few minutes and I told him what happened and he was as unapologetic as one can possibly be. For everything manager had just one response - this is how we serve. Wow ! I told him that in that case, either change your menu and have an option of “banana in caramel” rather than “caramelised banana” or train your staff/chef on how to caramelise bananas or pass on the feedback to the management but at least don’t serve burnt sugar syrup. I also told him that I am pregnant and can’t afford an upset stomach because of the stunts and experiments you did with the food and then to his response was “this is how we serve”. Towards the end my husband said what if I don’t pay you and instead say “this is how I behave in the restaurants. I eat but don’t pay”. Then he said we can get any other topping if you want BUT this is how we serve.
If possible I will give this...
Read moreI visited Glen’s Bakehouse, Kalyan Nagar with my wife for a special occasion. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant.
From the moment we entered, there was no one to welcome or guide us to a table. We wandered around ourselves and finally sat at a four-seater table. We noticed that several other tables were occupied by just two people but they had their handbags, helmets, and personal belongings spread across, clearly not an issue for the staff.
We placed our order and were eagerly waiting for the food. The first problem came when a waiter approached us saying that “you are just two persons, four persons are waiting, can you please change the table.” I pointed out that other tables had only two people with extra seats occupied by bags and helmets, and suggested they be asked instead. The waiter simply left without resolving it.
We received our first dish – the cinnamon roll – and started eating. Then a family came and politely requested us to move, and since it came from them (not staff), we agreed. However, I noticed the waiter smiling from the corner, which felt unprofessional.
Soon after, while we were eating our second dish (mushroom with mashed potato), the same family had more people join. This time, another waiter physically adjusted our table while we were eating. This was extremely uncomfortable and ruined our dining mood completely. Customers should never be disturbed like this once they have been seated and served.
Finally, when it came to billing, they refused to adjust the amount for the items we hadn’t consumed, insisting we pay the full bill and take parcels instead. We had to argue before they allowed us to pay only for what we ate.
Definitely not the hospitality you’d expect from...
