I rarely write reviews, but after my recent experience at Imperio Restaurant, I felt compelled to warn others. What was once considered a decent dining place has now become a textbook example of overpriced, poor-quality food coupled with truly terrible service. This wasn’t just a minor hiccup—it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in recent memory.
Let’s start with the food quality, which was shockingly bad. I ordered a range of dishes hoping to enjoy a satisfying meal. Unfortunately, almost every item was a disappointment.
The Paneer Kadhai, which is typically a rich, flavorful dish, was completely ruined by an overpowering cardamom flavor. It was so strong that it masked every other spice or taste that should have been present. Instead of a balanced North Indian curry, I felt like I was chewing on cardamom pods the entire time. It was unappetizing and borderline inedible.
But things got even worse when I tried the Chicken Curry. Shockingly, the chicken was undercooked, and I could actually see blood in several pieces. That is absolutely unacceptable for any restaurant, let alone one that charges a premium for its food. Undercooked chicken is not just unpleasant—it’s a serious health hazard.
As for the breads, both the Kerala Paratha and Malabar Paratha were drenched in oil, to the point that the tissue paper underneath them was soaked through. Instead of being crispy and flaky as they should be, they were heavy, greasy, and difficult to eat. It’s as if they were deep-fried instead of pan-cooked. No care was taken in the preparation, and it showed.
Now, if this meal had been affordable, I might have written it off as a budget mishap. But that’s the problem—Imperio is charging high-end prices for subpar food. When I compare this with other restaurants, which operates in the same price range, the difference in quality is night and day. Restaurant delivers consistent taste, properly cooked dishes, and overall value for money. Imperio, on the other hand, feels like they are cutting corners and hoping customers won’t notice.
Unfortunately, the service was just as disappointing as the food.
From the moment we entered, the staff seemed disinterested. We had to wave repeatedly just to get someone’s attention to take our order. The service was painfully slow, and there was no coordination among the waiters. Our water glasses remained empty for most of the meal, and we weren’t even offered tissues until we explicitly asked—twice.
To top it all off, the experience ended in the most uncomfortable way possible. Just as we were finishing our meal and still using the finger bowl, two waiters came over and stood right next to our table with the bill, as if they were rushing us out. It was awkward, intrusive, and frankly rude. I understand restaurants want table turnover, but there’s a way to handle it—and this was not it. At no point did we delay or occupy the table unreasonably long; we were simply finishing our meal. The staff's behavior made it feel like they couldn’t wait to get rid of us once we’d ordered.
What’s worse is that this wasn’t my first visit. I’ve eaten at Imperio several times in the past, and while it was never exceptional, the quality used to be decent. But it’s obvious now that they are degrading in quality day by day, both in food and service. It’s hard to believe they are even trying to maintain standards anymore.
In conclusion, Imperio is no longer worth your time or money. Poor food, indifferent service, and high prices make it a truly unpleasant experience. There are far better restaurants nearby that offer not just better taste, but proper hygiene, courteous staff, and real value for what you pay. I would strongly recommend skipping Imperio and opting for other instead. At least there, you know your chicken will be cooked, your paratha won’t drip oil, and your bill won’t be shoved in your face before you’ve wiped your hands.
1 out of 5 stars. Avoid unless you enjoy...
Read moreI am just writing this review to help people who see google reviews and goes to restaurent. I see so many 5 star rating, but we should be specifying atleast while writing what you ate.
We went for a team dinner around 9 there on a weekday, crowd was normal. We started with Pepper Chicken and Pepper gobi. Uff this 2 was excellent great work by chef.
One very bad thing, you might have seen people in the restaurent suggesting. But have you seen them marketing. You can vist Imperio to see that. They were not suggesting they were compelling. So I would suggest, try the dishes then only order the quantity which they say only if necessary. Even with the drink, a pitcher would be sufficent for atleast 8 people they say only 4 can drink. Later if you still like it go for it again. but please dont order it prior.
Now this is where the graph goes down, Curry leaf chicken was fine. Alafham was pathectic, it was just chicken burnt in charcoal. Flavour was not at all there. Kerala porata was hard, ceylon and coin poratta was good. Curries tandoori chicken curry - please dont go for it. Mughalai chicken is still fine and one more I dont remember was fine. next come the disaster uf we had mutton and Chicken biriyani worst biriyani ever. I had even told this the manager there directly for which he just stayed silent. Please do go there if you want to try anything indian. I guess the indo-chineese dishes might be good. so if you dont have any other restaurent and you only want to try starters and indo-chineese dishes. You can try thats it. Seriously dont eat biriyani please, I writing this review with...
Read moreMy wife, 6-month-old baby, and I chose Imperio HSR for dinner after a lot of searching, but the experience was deeply disappointing and frustrating.
The initial service from the order-taker was poor. After placing an order for a Veg Starter Combo, Paneer Kadai, and Roti, he returned 10 minutes later to inform us that the veg fingers were unavailable, suggesting a replacement of cheese balls. When we declined and asked for veg burgers, his entire attitude changed. He then suddenly claimed that multiple Paneer dishes were unavailable.
When I expressed my frustration, asking him to just tell me what they did have, his response was shocking: "How long have you been waiting?"—a completely dismissive and unacceptable reply to a paying customer. We escalated to the Manager, who was polite and humble. He promised special attention and took our order, but then incredibly, the food we were served was a non-veg dish disguised as Paneer Kadai. This was deeply offensive as we had made it clear we only eat vegetarian food, and the manager himself promised to correct the initial issues.
We were ultimately forced to get up and leave the restaurant mid-meal due to these compounded errors. As we walked out, no one even bothered to acknowledge us. The manager did request us to come back and offered non-veg Paneer Kadai again, which missed the point entirely.
This was an absolutely horrible experience. The order-taker's attitude was atrocious, and serving non-veg food to a customer who explicitly requested vegetarian is a serious lapse in kitchen control and service. I strongly advise against...
