I had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Light of Italy in HSR Layout, Bangalore, and I canât stop singing praises for their incredible ice cream, Funghi Pizza, lasagna, enchiladas, and special garlic bread! This place is a culinary haven, delivering authentic Italian and Mexican flavors with a flair that left me in awe. Starting with the ice cream, it was a creamy dream come true! The rich, velvety texture and perfectly balanced flavorsâwhether it was classic vanilla or indulgent chocolateâmelted in my mouth, offering a refreshing and decadent finish to the meal. Every spoonful felt like a little scoop of heaven, making it a must-try dessert! The Funghi Pizza was a masterpiece. The thin, crispy crust was topped with a generous layer of mozzarella and plump, juicy mushrooms sautĂŠed with Italian herbs and a hint of garlic. Each bite was a burst of earthy, savory goodness, and the cheese pull was Instagram-worthy! Itâs easily one of the best mushroom pizzas Iâve ever had, perfectly balancing flavor and texture. The lasagna was pure comfort food elevated to an art form. Layered with rich, homemade Bolognese sauce, creamy bĂŠchamel, and gooey mozzarella, it was hearty yet not overwhelming. The pasta sheets were cooked to perfection, and the flavors melded together in a way that felt like a warm hug from an Italian nonna. I savored every forkful! The enchiladas were a delightful surprise, showcasing Light of Italyâs knack for Mexican cuisine. Packed with tender veggies and a flavorful filling, they were smothered in a tangy, mildly spicy sauce and topped with melted cheese. The tortillas were soft yet held up beautifully, making each bite a fiesta of flavors. Itâs rare to find such authentic Mexican fare in an Italian-focused restaurant, but they nailed it! And letâs talk about the special garlic breadâoh, wow! This wasnât your average garlic bread. The bread was perfectly toasted, with a golden, buttery crust infused with garlic and herbs, and served with a side of marinara that added a zesty kick. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and so addictive I couldâve made a meal out of it alone. The ambiance, with its cozy Italian-inspired decor and vibrant energy, paired with the attentive and warm staff, made the experience even more memorable. Light of Italy has truly mastered the art of creating dishes that are both authentic and soul-satisfying. Iâm already counting down the days until I can return for another round of these spectacular dishes. Bravo, Light of Italyâyouâve set the...
Read moreIâm sorry but I have no idea how this place has such a high rating after feeding us food equivalent to dog dookie. We came into the restaurant after looking at the view outside ( 3 people) . We werenât greeted or served the menu card for five minutes and let me remind you, there was barely anyone sitting here and it was prime dinner time ( 7:00 pm). The cutlery didnât seem to be washed properly as I could feel dirt and grime.
Once we asked for the menu cards and ordered, half of the things we ordered âwere currently unavailableâ. In the end we had to order things totally different from our previous selections. We got cheese nachos and when I looked at it, no joke I wanted to vomit. It was an unnatural colour of yellow and tasted like milk ( more on that in a moment). The âso calledâ nachos felt like plastic and werenât even seasoned. They sprinkled like 3 tiny pieces of bell peppers. The salsa was freezing cold and felt like it was pre-made. They gave this literally 5 minutes after we ordered and clearly they didnât prepare it fresh. The tomato soup tasted packaged
We got a wood fire pizza which was originally a half-and-half but 15 minutes AFTER ordering they came to our table to tell it was unavailable. We ordered a different pizza and it was bad. I always thought there isnât much to mess up with thin crust pizzas but somehow you guys did it!!! The cheese once again tasted bad and it honestly tasted mid. Also got a lasagna which was eh but better than everything else.
EVEN BILLING WAS A PROBLEM IN THIS DAMN RESTAURANT. We had to try so many times and finally settled on google pay. When we left I was honestly so annoyed at how horrible the food was and my day was ruined. After returning home I looked at my fingers and saw that THEY WERE BRIGHT YELLOW. THIS USELESS RESTAURANT JUST COLOURED MILK AND CALLED IT CHEESE. The nerve of them to charge 250âš on these disgusting nachos and around 2k on the overall meal is horrible. Do not recommend. There are wayyyy better restaurants that give better food for a fraction...
Read moreA Pleasant Vegetarian Italian Experience âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (4/5)
We visited this pure vegetarian Italian restaurant last week and had a nice experience overall. The ambience was really good, offering a calm and nicely set up environment perfect for a relaxing meal. Our selections included pizza, pasta, a jamun shot, and a green apple mojito â all of which tasted fresh and well-prepared, highlighting the kitchen's commitment to quality. A delightful surprise at the end was being offered two scoops of ice cream they were testing, a very nice gesture that added to the positive experience. The only minor setback was the service, which was a bit slow, though the staff was consistently polite and helpful.
While the staff was courteous, we felt a lack of product knowledge when inquiring about popular or recommended dishes. As new to the restaurant, we would have appreciated more guidance on the menu, especially for lesser-known recipes. For instance, we ordered the Aglio-e-Olio pasta for the first time. Had we been informed that it's typically a dry pasta without much sauce, we might have chosen something more suited to our taste. Better menu explanations from the staff would certainly enhance the dining experience. Overall, it's worth the money.
