An astonishingly incompetent experience at Lucky Chan's new outlet - they clearly weren't remotely ready to open judging by this farcical comedy of errors:
First 3 items ordered - 2 came really fast, the edamame took 45 minutes and arrived with a stone inside, witnessed by manager Kabir Husen himself. Second round took over 20 minutes after 4 reminders, as the waiter never punched it in.
When the replacement edamame finally came, it was crumbly and falling apart, prompting Kabir to take it back. Inspire of specifically asking for Kabir by name, Ashish from their wait staff forgot to alert him until I walked over myself.
Their complimentary dessert to "make up for it" contained a bristle-like foreign particle - again while still in Kabir's hand!
The billing saga: 10 minute delay, their Amex machine was down. Kabir fetched a supposed "manager" whose demeanor didn't match but who repeatedly promised that he was the manager. Suddenly, someone called Anirudhya appeared claiming to be the one running all Lucky Chans in Bangalore.
Anirudhya's resolution? Expecting a return visit despite this shambolic experience, offering a paltry 20% discount and then hesitatingly increasing it to 50% - nowhere near comping it. I'd have assumed that with all the blunders already committed and with their inability to charge my card they would immediately waive off the bill - but no such willingness exhibited. It was my problem to solve for how I wanted to pay them. Anirudhya insisted (read as demanded) we go there again for a dinner to be hosted by him and he will personally ensure that the experience isn't as horrendous as this one was (which we might even consider since the food actually tasted so good).
For an upscale "premium fine dine," our section (last table on the left side) had zero AC.
The booking was its own ordeal - no online listing in Zomato or Swiggy/Dineout, no number on Google. I could only reserve by calling their Indiranagar branch and the lady there was nice enough to take the reservation on behalf of this Forum South Bangalore outlet (but she couldn't give me their number).
While some dishes were "really good," that doesn't excuse abysmal service and constant blunders. Positioning yourself as elevated dining means no hand-waving disasters across the board as "teething issues." This isn't a child's lemonade stand - it's an allegedly premium business delivering farcical amateur hour incompetence. Open when properly prepared to avoid deluding and infuriating customers.
We've been regular patrons to Amit Ahuja's other restaurants but Lucky Chan Kanakpura Road was an overall poor, poor show.
I certainly hope it will be better the next...
Read moreIf disappointment had a physical form, it would be served cold, overpriced, and absolutely FLAVOURLESS on the sad little plates at Lucky Chan. What an absolute joke of a dining experience. 💀
Let’s start with the food—or whatever that was pretending to be food. The sushi? Tasted like someone rolled up sadness and sticky rice, and charged ₹2000 for four miserable, soulless pieces that screamed “help me” with every bite. Zero flavour. ZERO. Like they forgot to season it… or cook it with love… or even try.
The noodles? Cardboard cosplay. The pork belly curry? IT WAS LITERALLY CHILLI CHICKEN IN DISGUISE 😭😭 Not a hint of pork, just basic-ass Indian gravy playing dress-up and catfishing my taste buds. Iconic scam behavior tbh.
Oh and the sake they swore was 180ml? Broski it was barely 100ml. And it tasted like someone watered down a sad mermaid’s tears and called it a vibe. You’d get more buzz from sipping sanitizer 💅
Service? Non-existent. We were ready to order for 20 minutes, and the server just straight-up IGNORED us. When the food finally came after another hour—yes, a whole hour—it was cold, disappointing, and straight out of a culinary horror movie.
Honestly? I’ve had instant noodles in a hostel at 3 a.m. with more soul than anything served here.
Final Verdict: Save your money. Save your taste buds. And most importantly, save yourself the trauma. Lucky Chan ain’t lucky. It’s daylight robbery with...
Read moreme and my three other friends went to lucky chan for lunch after a lot of contemplation and seeing good reviews online, we have ordered 6 items - 1. classic xiao long bao-mushoroom, 2. truffle edamame dim sum 3. hibachi fried rice (x2)-chicken 4. dan dam noodles-veg 5. chicken katsu ramen; the only thing that tasted good was the mushroom soup dimsum (no. 1), food aside, the service was just bad we asked a waiter to suggest what is spicy and so he suggested the above mentioned things and even after that we asked him to make it extra spicy we mentioned it three or more times and the actual food arrived it looked amazing but then the taste? one item was sweet, the ramen was just off (i mean try kurraku- the best ramen) fried rice was just blant, we then decided to complain but in response we got "Vietnamese sauce" which again just tasted bad. overall the experience was worse and wouldn't recommend anyone going there.
there are many good restaurants who after complaining charge 40-50% less but even after the issue went to the manager's notice we were charged the...
