Dropped into UTK for lunch with my husband recently, and ended up having an absolutely lovely experience! Totally loved the ambience, food and service at this place. We are vegetarians and, in spite of being skeptical initially, found a lot to choose from the menu here.
We started with Nimmakaya Chaaru, a simple but very comforting lentil broth which was delicately spiced and beautiful. Next was Rayalseema Natu Bombs, crispy fried vegetable balls tossed in avakkai spices. This was quite a spicy affair for our tastebuds, but still so good. We opted for Palletoori Mushroom Vepudu next, fried mushrooms with a special spice blend. This was moderately spiced and very delicious. When we learnt that the restaurant has goli soda on offer, we got one each - they were super refreshing and helped cool down our palates.
For main course, we chose Gutti Vankaaya Koora with phulka rotis and Ulavacharu Kaju Pulao, both of which were excellent. The Gutti Vankaaya Koora was just perfect, moderately spiced, very flavourful and brought to mind the meals that I enjoyed at a neighbour from Andhra Pradesh many years ago. The phulka rotis were soft and faultless, one of the best I have had in a Bangalore restaurant. The pulao came with a generous dose of roasted cashewnuts and flavourful ulavacharu atop fragrant, lightly spiced rice. We loved both dishes unequivocally.
Jaggery & Coconut Ice Cream was our dessert, brilliantly executed at that. The taste of slowly thickened milk, jaggery and coconut came across perfectly, the ice cream providing a lovely finale to what had been a lovely meal.
Both of us loved the place, its simple but elegant decor and relaxing ambience. The service staff was warm and friendly, offering helpful suggestions without being overbearing or interfering.
Would highly recommend visiting UTK! I can't wait to go back, to try out the veg...
Read moreAndhra food is often associated with spiciness, but at United Telugu Kitchen, it’s the balance of flavor and heat that truly stands out. We visited UTK, located inside Forum Mall in Konankunte, Bangalore, and I was eager to see what they had to offer.
Upon arrival, there was a brief wait at the reception, but the staff quickly took our names and, within 10 minutes, we were seated at a table. The staff were courteous and very helpful, guiding us through the menu and assisting in finalizing our order. The dishes were served promptly, without much of a wait.
Here’s what we tried:
• Ragi Sankati + Natu Kodi Pulusu (5/5): The ragi was superb, and the natu kozhi, prepared with skin, paired beautifully with it. • Golichina Mamsam (3/5): The preparation was good—spicy and chewy—but it didn’t quite hit the mark compared to the other dishes. • Chintachiguru Kodi Vepadu (5/5): This dish is a must-try. The tangy flavor was truly a treat for the taste buds. • Ulavacharu Mutton Biryani (4/5): We initially ordered the Ulavacharu Mutton Pulav, but it was sold out, so we opted for the biryani instead. It was flavorful with just the right amount of masala, and the mutton pieces were soft and delicious.
Don’t miss their goli soda, which comes in flavors like lime, mojito, grape, orange, jeera, and blueberry. My personal favorites were the orange, jeera, and mojito.
To finish, we tried their gulab jamun with rabdi (4/5), which made for a satisfying end to the meal.
Special mention of the staff, Priya and Ravi who continuously took care of us till the time we left the restaurant. Appreciate the efforts 😊
I highly recommend United Telugu Kitchen if you’re looking to experience the best of Andhra cuisine. The flavors will leave your taste buds delighted—definitely a place...
