It's not them - it's me. I was destined for an unpleasant dinner. Hence I entered Masala Love & Co from the wedding reception in the same building as dinner seemed impossible to get at the reception.
We easily got a table here as there were just a couple of patrons when we entered. But, we were in for a shock when the friends and families (possibly of the owner) entered. It was a chaos bigger than reception we had come out of - people yelling from table to table and kids shouting and roaming around. When we brought it up to the owner, he politely apologized - expressed his helplessness - moved away from us quietly.
It was topped with a bill that would put the vegetarian restaurants in the vicinity to shame. Two soups, a paneer ghee roast, a kadai veg, a naan and a roti cost us ₹1,181! While some may find it reasonable, I don't. I regret not walking a distance or even getting a cab to the 3rd block to have dinner at one of the many options available. But, as I said in the beginning, it's not them - it's me. I was destined for it.
If I were the owner of that place, I would have closed the place for the public if I had the friends and family over. If I ever saw a genuinely unhappy customer because of their experience at my restaurant, I would have done my best to make up for it - be it with a discount on the bill, a dessert on the house or a polite invite to visit in the near future with a promise of an excellent experience. Since, I was just a customer, I just left with the handwritten bill with a discount of ₹84 for the Masala Papad that was never served but billed.
I hope my feedback is taken seriously and sincerely hope that my review remains the only 2 star review in the months (years) to...
Read moreThis place like any other place in south bangalore is extremely crowded.. people are very loud, so it is definitely not for people seeking a calm and peaceful meal. Coming to the actual issue, have witnessed many crowded and heavy waiting time restaurants and the staff and the owners have always displayed an empathetic, calm and courteous behavior towards their patrons. This was the first restaurant where I was shocked to see the way owner/cashier/manager who was sooooooo arrogant.. the Lady, was extremely rude for anything we asked. We asked the waiter, if they had any online app tie ups, they did not know and looked at her in question, she marched angrily towards us and asked, "What's your problem??" I was like, what now? Is that the way to talk? And then, we still in a normal way asked the same question and she is like, "did you make reservation after coming here?" We said "No, since we are already here and got the table we did not. But wanted to know if we could pay the bill through the app".. for that she got so annoyed and said "you booked the table and has your order been taken?" Which was definitely not the relevant answer, but we understood we may never get and did not want to talk to her anymore and let it go.. we had our Lil ones with us and did not want them to witness these unpleasantaries. Well, that was our very uncalled for experience and similar stuff continued through out our dining.. was the worst 45mins of our life!! Felt like we did something really wrong being there.. you know that mixed feeling of disgust and being yelled for something you did not do... Hopefully, no one ever...
Read moreI had a mixed experience at this restaurant. The food was overall very good, with some dishes standing out for their taste and preparation. A few staff members were friendly and accommodating, but I noticed that some others seemed to lack training, as they were unaware of the dishes they were serving.
One area for improvement is the timing. The preparation of the food was delayed, and if you're planning to order starters, I recommend also ordering the main course at the same time to avoid a long wait. Unfortunately, the roti we received after a lengthy wait was served cold, and when we pointed it out, it was promptly heated in the oven and brought back to us. I had expected freshly made roti considering the wait time, so this was a bit disappointing.
While the management did approach us after the meal to check if everything was okay, it felt a bit late, especially after we'd already about to finish our food. If they'd approached us earlier, particularly when we were waiting or when we requested the roti be served hot, it could have improved the experience significantly.
Another thing to note is the service charge. We noticed a service tax added to our bill, which we felt should be optional, as tips are usually given voluntarily. When we inquired, they removed it, explaining it was a standard practice they apply to all customers, though we still felt a bit uncomfortable with that policy.
Overall, while there were a few areas where the service could have been more attentive, the food quality was good. I think with some attention to timing and customer interaction, this place could offer a more...
