Sri maruthi bhel sagar is situated in Basavangudi. This chaat centre is run by two brothers. This place is meant for dry chaats. You don’t get usual pani puri, masala puri & etc. In fact, they have some unique chaats i.e. Dr.Rajkumar Special, Angadi Special, Lemon spicy & Samosa Masala. Crowd just piles up here during weekends. Need to wait for at least 15mins on an average to get your order and you definitely embrace why you have to wait 15mins, once you taste the chaat. Owner is a great fan of Dr.Rajkumar, so one of the chaat was named after him. This chaat is fast moving. However, Dr Rajkumar special chaat taste is equally distinct and unique as our Dr. Rajkumar 😊 Tikki puri as a base to this chaat, topped with required spices. Highlight of this chaat is, sliced pineapple, pomegranate & dry grapes. Don’t think this could be quite sweetish, but it’s spicy. The spicy taste comes from their unique green chutney. We ordered: Dr. Rajkumar Special, Angadi Special, Samosa Masala, Special Bhel & Dahi Puri. Angadi special was spicy too. Tomato slice as a base of this chaat, added with sweet corn, ground nuts and dahi with sweet sauce. Again amazing taste. Samosa Masala is not with usual potato stuffed samosa, instead it’s crispy onion samosa. It’s slightly smashed and sprinkled with required ingredients and it’s really lip smacking chaat. Special Bhel is quite similar to churumuri, but again it’s spicy too. At last, dahi puri also has tikki puri as a base and it’s unlike regular dahi puri. Price is very reasonable. No chaat is more than Rs35. Both brothers are so generous to their customers. They are so patient to serve all their customers, though the customers are sometimes aggressive. When you visit Basavangudi, try to check this chaat centre and I’m sure you will say, MAN WHAT A TASTE!!

Had a travel a bit to this place on a Sunday just to taste their uniquely prepared dry chaats. Luckily a little less crowded on a Sunday evening and they’ve got a lot to offer on the menu. First off, tried their bhel puri and Sev puri. Bhel, was definitely a must try with all the crunchiness of the cut Julian carrot and onion. The tangy chutney gives enhanced flavor to the bhel. Not to forget, this dish did have a good spice level too. Everything was right on this dish. Next up, was sev. Filled with puffed rice and sev with all the tangy chutney’s and sev. Puri was fresh and crunchy and the puffed rice was absolutely fresh. This dish was good in taste, texture. Do not expect these dishes to have masala on them as we do for normal chaats. Next up, was their show stealer, pineapple chaat. Mouth watering with every pineapple piece into your mouth. Blast of spice from chilli paste and powder, tanginess of the pineapple, sweetness of the chutney and flavor from the coriander. Loved this chaat to the max. Next up, final one was, Chintamani chakli special chaat. This was nothing more than slices of onion placed over chakli and enhanced with flavors, masalas and sev. This felt quite normal and the chakli could not hold on to those masalas and chutney’s. It felt quite blunt and normal unless the name does not have something special in real. In All, a go to place for your dry chaats and savor the most from their large menu. Also, do note that the owners serving chaats would be totally busy in serving customers and may get annoyed at you if you expect more from them. But they’re friendly too without a smile.

This establishment (since 1965!) is situated right opposite the hanumantha nagar park, near to ramakrishna ashram. They like to call themself as Dr Rajkumar chat angadi, a reflect of their fondness and love towards the late matinee idol. They serve lip smacking chats prepared hygenically. The special bhel Puri and Dr Rajkumar special chats are a must try. They ship owners are very friendly and they encourage you to try the best of their offerings. The price is reasonable and parcel services are available. I would definitely want to visit the shop again to try out their other offerings
