The place is an authentic 'Mom&Pop' restaurant hidden away in the lanes of New BEL road, serving true Thai cuisine. You should try it at least once to understand difference between authentic and commercialized Thai food. I have gone to several Thai restaurants and mostly served soupy dishes as Thai cuisine. This one is different. Only challenge is the names of dishes on the menu can be very confusing. No alcohol served. Now on the experience, I would rate it 4+, simply because 1. Lack of parking as they have only street parking and no dedicated space. 2. Wait time to get a table after 1 pm on weekends can sometimes take upto 45-50 mins. This is because, they have only 7 tables (3 each 2-Seater and 4-seater and a 6-seater) and people who find seats early have no urgency in finishing their meals and leaving. We were told a seat was available after waiting 25 mins but the occupants of that seat took another 45 mins to leave that table even after serving their final order. That was very frustrating. 3. They have only one person who cooks as per order and hence the serving to the table is extremely slow. If you have plenty of time and no urgency, go here on weekend otherwise better explore weekdays. Also, there's no proper waiting option outside the restaurant and queues can extend to 5+ table-waiting at any point for lunch time. Food is amazing, they can adjust to spicy and nonspicy as required. We ordered 4-5 dishes and no complaints of the taste. Quantity can be a bit more for some dishes. Soups are served in a bowl that can serve 2-4 people. Prices are slightly on the higher side. I feel, they are still exploring or early stages of running restaurant and there's more room for improvement. Some suggestions, for such closely knit restaurants, a token system or pre-order could help reduce wait time, and some dishes can be partly or prior-prepared to reduce cooking time. Maybe have more Sous or Commis to manage quick bites and drinks. Overall, food was great but we wasted unnecessary time between waiting, ordering and eating. I hope they restaurant does offer better experience...
Read moreEDIT: We've been to Thailand multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed proper street food there, even at non-touristy small towns and NO, none of that food was as spicy as these guys made it! So I don't buy their response that authentic Thai food is supposed to be this spicy.
We've gone here twice in the last 2 weeks. First time, our feedback to them was that the food was wayyy toooo spicy despite telling them we wanted it medium-spicy (we overheard another table tell the owner the exact same thing), there's way too less gravy with the dishes (which probably they can easily work on if you tell them in advance), and also that salt was less in all the dishes, especially the spring rolls (adding salt later is not an option for this dish!).
The restaurant smells of seafood quite a bit, making me a bit uncomfortable as a vegetarian. Better ventilation and exhaust is needed, other than room freshener to neutralize the smell.
Second time we thought we'd take a chance again and go back to see if they can fix the food's salt & spice content if informed in advance. This time we specifically told them that last time it had been toooo spicy for us, and to make it very very less spicy. We said this several times to multiple waiters. Despite this, the Squid & Salted Egg Yolk ordered by my husband was still wayy too spicy and we had to give it back to modify it, after which the taste wasn't the same. Along with the chilli, other flavours were also gone when the dish came back.
I had ordered a veg thai curry and this was ridiculously spicy too, despite them telling me they specifically made it less spicy for me. I actually ended up having severe acid reflux and heartburn because of this spice and kept getting burps of the green curry for the next 6-7 hours.
So if you have acidity, reflux, IBS or any sort of a tummy issue, AVOID THIS RESTAURANT! They are NOT able to tone down the spice even on request.
Had high expectations of this place, but disappointed that they aren't able to reduce spice or inform the customers clearly which dishes will be spicy & cannot be modified to reduce...

If you’re craving an authentic Thai experience that hits all the right notes — flavour, freshness, and flair — look no further than Thai Orchid by Maas Kitchen on New BEL Road.
From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warm hospitality, elegant Thai-inspired décor, and a menu that’s nothing short of a culinary passport to Thailand. 🇹🇭✨
I had the opportunity to be among the first to taste their offerings on opening night (9th August), and let me just say — this isn’t just another restaurant; it’s a full-on flavour journey. Every dish, veg and non-veg alike, is thoughtfully curated with love, authenticity, and spice levels that Thai food fans will truly appreciate. 🌶️❤️
What I loved most:
Extensive menu with something for every palate — from rich curries and fresh salads to aromatic stir-fries and indulgent desserts.
Super fresh ingredients and a clear passion for quality in every bite.
Great ambiance — cozy yet classy, making it perfect for everything from date nights to group dinners.
Standout dishes for me were the creamy green curry, the spicy papaya salad, and the melt-in-your-mouth Thai basil chicken. Oh, and don’t skip the jasmine rice — it’s perfection.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and more than happy to recommend dishes based on our taste preferences.
🌟 Final verdict: Thai Orchid is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates real Thai food, beautifully executed in a space that feels like home with a twist of Bangkok street charm.
