Multiple reasons why this place has got such a low rating, so let's get into the review straight away. Variable Entry Fees I visited this place on a Saturday night with a friend. On reaching the place, we were told by Robin at the front desk that we had to pay 1500 cover and 500 entry. On probing a bit more, Robin literally showed me the full list of cover and entry charged to all the stags who went in before us. I was surprised to find out that he had charged 2000 cover and 2000 entry (i.e. 4000 total) for some stags that night! This sort of behavior is very reminiscent of Bombay Adda, wherein they charge different people different amounts through the night, depending on how "badly" you want to get in. Very unfair in my opinion, especially if you are at the receiving end of a higher entry fee. Place to keep Helmets/Bags/Belongings This is the first place I have visited in Bangalore that actually has a separate area and a person assigned just to safely stow away your helmet or belongings inside the club, and they do it for free! This is just so helpful as I always have my helmet with me while heading to clubs but I struggle to find a place to keep it inside the venue. Jacked up prices Unfortunately this place thinks they can overcharge the customer by jacking up the prices each night. On the night we went, they created a "special" menu (which I am sure they do on other nights as well). No alcohol item, not even a beer pint, was priced below 450 Rs before taxes! This made the final price I paid for a peg of whiskey 500 bucks! Quite unbelievable for a place to charge as much as Shiro for a peg of whiskey yet it comes nowhere close to the ambiance of Shiro. This is one of the biggest negative points at this place, I even checked the menu on Zomato and it is much cheaper than what we paid that night. Hence get ready to be fooled, if in case you checked the menu online before visiting. The worst pizza I have ever tasted in any club to date We ordered pizza before leaving the club as a takeaway. The pizza was so bad, it wasn't even edible. The cheese was hard and bland, the bread was very very stale. We actually got rid of both pizzas without eating it. I have never, ever has such bad pizza in any club I have visited in Bangalore, period. Ironically there is a board, after you enter Leela palace, just before you take the steps to go down to XU, where Leela management has literally put a big board stating that XU does NOT come under Leela's management and that they will not be held responsible for any food quality issues at XU. I am quite sure the Leela palace has received quite a few complaints owing to issues with food served by XU, hence the public information notice. Overall, I felt this place is quite a...
Read moreWe had attended this New year's Eve party at XU given that it was being hosted at The Leela. I cannot express how disappointed I was at the extremely poor manner in which it was conducted.
For starters, the food was so bad that I would have rather brought in some chips from home because the veg dishes(Gobi Manchurian, paneer tikka dry) and the non veg dishes (chicken tikka, fish fingers, chilly chicken) were that poor in quality. We in fact left by 9pm from a party to which we were let in by 8pm. It just had so much batter in it that I had to peel it away to get to the meat and toothpicks, is that really how The Leela offers cutlery ? Let's forget plastic spoons, couldn't wooden forks or spoons at least be provided ? Now let's forget the long queues to get to the food , we had to wait for over 15mins to just get the food since it was not being replaced in time. How can such a prestigious hotel be mismanaged in such a delirious fashion ?
On to the liquor section, what is this sub standard quality of drinks being offered ? Apart from absolut vodka , everything else was something that's usually offered at a bar. I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed we were. The only way one could get a hold of something to drink is by having to wait for over 35mins at a counter where one would be shoved and hurled abuses by fellow customers and finally after having arrived at the counter to be told that absolut vodka is done, some monstrosity called dewars whiskey is left and that we only have coke and 7up to mix in your drinks since the juices(fruit juices) were over. Even the heineken beer was done by 845pm. How on earth is this possible for the amount we have payed ???????
Moving on to the really amazing washrooms that was so badly maintained even right at the beginning of the party!!!! At 8pm the washrooms were stinking when we were in fact the first few folks to be inside XU. And going ahead, things were just a disaster with minimal air conditioning and a closed space. It was disastrous and don't you folks know that you shouldn't be cramming people in to such small spaces. A place that could take in a maximum of 50 had over 1000 people in it.
It was surprising to see the Leela let such a disastrous event be held on their premises with such terrible management and sub par...
