My personal experience?
It is not at all easy to satisfy the palate of every customer walking into a restaurant. Mostly it is found that restaurants serving buffet where the menu is vast , fail to perfect most items in the event of trying to cover multiple cuisines on their menu. The task is difficult and often left undone. But here in Chai Break all my misconceptions were changed.
Hardly I have experienced a buffet under 700 which serves over 25 items that too where all the items are so consistent in terms of flavours. Be it the vegetarian dishes or the non vegetarian ones nothing can be labelled superior to the other.
In the starters , the chilly chicken dry and the fried chicken ( both boneless) were my stars of the show. The perfect crunch on every bite of fried chicken will definitely impress you and the subtle kick of spices from the dry chilly chicken will tantalise your tastebuds. Besides the kebabs, the wings and even the veg preparations were too good and I couldn’t resist myself from repeating few of those.
After the massive start , expectations were too high and the main course lives upto it. Specially the mutton rogan josh with biryani were the show stealer. I didn’t hesitate to refill my plate with some more mutton and little bit of the biryani.
When you have such star performers , the others might not be as good, yet your show will hit but here the case wasn’t such. Even the mixed sauce pasta was delicious and deserves special mention. The Chinese preparations , be it the pawns or the veg manchurian along with noodle are worth a try and they won’t disappoint either. Every dish has been prepared with utmost care.
Things should always end well and on a sweet note. Desserts according to me play a vital role in every buffet. Here the dessert spread is neither too small not huge yet every item is worth a try. The brownies along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is just enough for me. Although you also have gulab jamun , baked mihidana and cream caramel.
This is one such buffet that you should never miss and the place mostly remains jam packed as it is in a very busy place so prior reservation should help your seamless...
Read moreIt needs guts to serve buffet beside the king of buffet restaurants and I must say Chai Break have guts to do this. I went there on weekday and found this restaurant packet up. After almost 40 minutes of wait finally got a table to try their lunch buffet.
They've packed as many sits as possible in this small place. A huge bar counter is in front and high bar chairs making the bar complete. On left hand side we got a comfortable sofa. I noticed a separate room for Hookah also. Live match was playing on Projector and music on big speakers. Overall ambience wasn't boring.
It took them quite a while to start serving us and I needed to wait with an empty plate in the middle too. There service is pretty slow but they were courteous. So, lets jump into the buffet...
Starters (4/5) : I was damm sure that they won't be able to beat BBQ Nation in starters but they almost proved me wrong. There was number of starters including Crispy Chilli Baby Corn, Chilli Fish, Chilli Chicken, Fried Fish, Aaachari Chicken, Hariyali Chicken Tikka, Chilli Paneer, Cheese Balls. We choose fresh lime soda as complimentary drink with starters.
Chilli Fish, Aaachari Chicken, Hariyali Chicken is worth mentioning, specially Chilli Fish that was superior in taste. Added Papri Chat was there for vegans. Cheese Balls were disappointing. Just take a drink and number of starters were more than enough to satisfy.
Mains (3/5) : Soup : Only Veg Lemon Coriander Soup was present. Better luck next time Non-Veg soup lovers.
Veg Mains : Veg Chilli Garlic Noodles, Corn Palak, Paneer Butter Masala and Steamed Rice was present. I didn't liked the taste of Garlic Noodles, others were very fine.
Non-Veg Mains : Chicken Biryani, Raita, Mutton Roganjosh, Oyster Chicken, Grilled Fish in Lemon Mustard Sauce, Prawn Masala was present. Biryani was spicy with rich aroma but chicken pieces was bit dry. Raita made it worthless. Oyster Chicken was average but Lemon Mustard Grilled Fish with its rich mustard flavour was very impressive.
Desserts (3/5) : This section was very limited and not really impressive. Sandesh, Khasta Gaja, Chenna Payesh, Kala Jamun, Pumkin Halwa were there and all of those tasted very average. Only Vanilla flavour was available in Ice Cream.
Conclusion : This branch of Chai Break isn't limited to cafe only. Apart from full buffet its mainly a bar. For obvious reasons they cannot actually compete Barbeque Nation located just beside it. But the overall experience isn't far behind by paying...
