I visited this place on 27th Jan 24 around 1030 pm. I had heard a lot about Rang de basanti dhaba and we used to order food from this place using zomato. We ordered butter chicken, butter naan, lachaa Paratha, kadai paneer, Malai Kofta and Dahi Kababs.

Incident -
We are a group of 6 adults and 3 kids. We sat inside initially, however we felt claustrophobic and suffocated as there was no air ventilation and AC was switched off. We shifted to table arranged outside the restaurant.
The table was not laid properly, the it was dirty so we asked one of the staff to clean the table. He used a dirty cloth to wipe the table. There were no tissue/ salt or pepper.
We asked for water, water was never served to us on the table.
Our food arrived within 15-20 mines, however quantity was incorrect. We had to remind the staff that we ordered certain quantity of lachaa Paratha and malai kofta was missing. We were told that remaining food will come shortly.
We started eating, however, malai kofta was never served. There was no staff who could be contacted and we were about to finish our food which was ordered to us.
We were hungry and we wanted to order some more rotis and other items but we kept waiting for the staff. One of our friend went inside the restaurant and spoke to manager to send the remaining food and to send the staff. However, the attitude of the manager was very cold.
We waited for another 5 mins but food didn't come neither any staff was sent to check the issue.
Finally I had to go inside the restaurant to ask for the bill as I found that it is futile to wait for the staff or food.
The restaurant completely ruined our sat night dinner.
I had never witnessed such cold staff and managers in Kolkata.

My friends and I decided to have dinner at Rang De Basanti Dhaba around 10:30 pm. Anticipating a crowd on a Saturday evening, we secured a place to sit upon entering the restaurant, placed our orders, and settled in for what turned out to be an excruciating wait of more than 45 minutes. Adding to the unpleasant experience were the extremely malodorous toilets and an overall unclean environment.
After an hour or so, our ordered food arrived, and while it was mediocre in taste, the disregard for cleanliness extended to the dishes and utensils. Midway through our meal, we decided to order some Tandoor Rotis, assuming they would arrive promptly. Unfortunately, even after a 15-minute wait, they never made it to our table, forcing us to conclude our meal without them. The ordeal reached its peak during the payment process.
I opted for online payment (Dineout) after confirming with the staff, only to face denial from the restaurant manager despite presenting payment confirmation and credit card expenditure details. Despite numerous requests in the middle of the night, the manager remained unresponsive, leaving me with no choice but to make a second payment using my debit card. It took hours of persistent effort and presenting all the receipts to finally secure a refund from Dineout.
In summary, if you prioritize cleanliness when dining, I strongly advise against choosing this establishment, particularly if you are with family and kids. While the waitstaff and cleaning personnel were courteous, the manager's handling of the payment situation left much to be desired.
