Located at the IT hub of Kolkata (Salt Lake Sector 5), Sloshed by the Spice Kraft is going to be the newest hype of the town. Well, That's what I believe and there's a reason behind that.
First, because of their amazing food. Second, their hospitality. Third, the ambiance.
That's everything we look for whenever we visit a restaurant, Right? Well, I've visited this place yesterday and let me share my experience.
▪️Starters/Kebabs/Chakhna :
Bhutte ki Kees (₹275) : A corn preparation with cream, milk, butter and some spices which was simmered overnight to make the kernels soft and gave it a creamy texture.
Machli Hara Dhaniya (₹365) : the fish was braised which gave the fish a soft texture. The cashew paste and the fresh cream added the richness to the dish. I personally loved it and would definitely recommend you to try it.
3M (murg mirchi madeira) (₹295) : The sweetness of the red wine and the sourness of orange kinda took the dish to a whole new level. It a fusion of flavors as it has all the sweet, sour and spiciness in the dish. Definitely an unique one.
Atta Chicken Kotkapura (₹295) : So you might ask why atta? In the Rural Punjab region, where the chicken is sealed in a dough and then slow cooked in tandoor. This makes the chicken juicy and tender.
Grilled prawn in hot mango butter (₹365) : HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. The sweetness of the mango can be felt after the first bite. It has a creamy texture which comes with some additional butter so before having the prawn, you can make it more juicy if you want. The presentation was great.
Tikha Mirchi Aur Rasgulla Ke Kebab (₹275) : Very Unique. I, personally never tried rasgulla kebabs before. This was the first time and I loved it. A bit spicy at the beginning then sweet when you take a bite.
▪️Mains Grilled fish in rum butter reduction (₹395) : Comes as a platter. Like, there's gonna be rice and some mashed potatoes to make this a complete meal.
Sliced Chicken in Mild Garlic (₹295) : 5-6 pieces of chicken comes in a coconut shell. Much recommended if you're ordering Nasi Goreng as it balances out the spiciness.
Nasi Goreng Rice (Mixed) (₹265) : A bit spicy so, I'd definitely not recommend if you don't like spicy food. But if you love spicy food, this is pure heaven.
Lucknowi Dum Biryani (Chicken) (₹295) : Absolutely delectable. The speciality of lucknowi biryani is, it's richness which was there. The quantity is very well enough for two. I loved it. RECOMMENDED.
▪️Desserts Kali Gajar ka Halwa (₹165) : Another different name right? Kali gajar? Well, black carrots have an earthy, mineral taste where red carrots are more crisp and the most overtly sweet, while the orange ones have a richer, lingering aftertaste. But black ones, does have some health benefits. I was really astound to see how well they've utilised the sweetness of the condensed milk to supress the actual taste of black carrots. Loved it.
Fake Mashroom Forest (₹225) : Ahhhh! The decoration and creativity is something needs to be highlighted. They've used red velvet sable to make the top of the mushroom and used rich milk fudge as the bottom. Some chocolate for the soil and whipped vanilla. The decor is gratifying to the eyes. Absolutely brilliant.
▪️Mocktails RED GRAPE BASIL TWISTER AAM PANNA CURRY PATTA, TANGY MANDARIN LEMON GRASS Kokum Rita Mocktail
The mocktails were decent enough. I'd suggest you to try the Red Grape Basil Twister. That's what I liked the most.
▪️Shisha Fire Water
Overall it was pretty good experience as not a single dish disappointed me. The hospitality is very very good. Do try them out. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Do let me know if you have any confusion or about your...
Read moreSituated in the Omega Building in Sector 5 Salt Lake, up left on the escalator leading to the 1st floor, is Sloshed By Spice Kraft Restaurant. With a quirky, dim-lighted décor, the place is inviting. There is enough space to show your dance and let loose to the fine-pipped music being played. The décor is mostly inspired by Bollywood as you can find a lot of related graffiti and artwork strewed across the restaurant. There is a floor above as well, which seats a good amount of patrons. A smoking zone is also there, in the shape of a red telephone booth.
I believe the name SLOSHED is justified by the barrage of drinks available here. I was gobsmacked at the sheer number of options to choose from. Imagine you have to scour through 50 options of LIITs, 15-20 options of Sangrias, and a galore of cocktails. The selection itself gave me a headache. But the kind waiter helped me with the choicest takeaways from the mega list and we were able to shortlist 4 LIITs; Classic LIIT Double Dose, Amnesia, Limoncello, and Berry Blast. Albeit the Classic Double Dose, I found each one of them perfectly curated. The Cointreau was quite overpowering in the latter.
I was equally amazed by the Sloshed By Spice Kraft menu. It was a fusion of Asian, Indian, Continental, and a touch of Italian. To start, we had Gujarati Chhundo Pickled Cottage Cheese Galettes. It was the “pickliest” dish I have ever had. This dish was a concoction of pieces of cottage cheese and veggies were completely laced in mixed pickles. Then came the Mushroom Fondue with Quattro Formaggi. The taste was excellent, especially the Mushroom dippers. BUT, when we dug into the cheese, we found a lot of aluminum foil. Bits and pieces of the foil went into our mouths and unfortunately, ruined the mood. Upon intimating the kind waiter, he said it was to absorb the heat from the little candle below. Never have I ever heard of such a fondue with foil. So you might look to check this out.
The bang on dishes included the Aatish Ke Ande & Til Pudina Paneer Tikka. Lip-smacking from the moment it arrived at the table and touched the tongue. Beautiful presentation and fabulous taste. The eggs were well marinated and baked to perfection. You get 6 pieces (3 eggs split in half). The same goes for the Paneer Tikka as well. These 2 dishes are MUST-HAVES. Another dish we tried from the starter section was the (long name alert!) Tsing Hoi Crunchy Potatoes In Chilly Spicy Lemongrass. Equally long was the semi-cut bamboo plate in which the dish was served. This dish was also very nice to have.
Over to the main course, there was Burnt Garlic Fried Rice, Veg Hakka Noodles, Penne Pasta, Dal Makhani, Banarasi Teekha Aloo Dum (A DEFINITE Must Have) and different Indian breads. The way they present your food is too good. Every platter has been chosen aptly for the dish being served. Even the condiments, papad, and onions were served in a conical platter. The main course, especially the Chinese were average in taste though. I L-O-V-E-D the Aloo Dum. Exceptional taste. My verdict would be to go ahead with the Indian cuisine. It was oodles better than the rest.
The presentation, quirky décor, courteous staff, sinful & choicest selection of cocktails make you want to come back to Sloshed By Spice Kraft Kolkata.
