Chawlas2 - SECTOR 7 — Restaurant in Chandigarh

We saw a YouTube video proclaiming greatness of this restaurant. We ordered takeaway twice. Disappointed both times.

First time, Chicken Malai Tikka was found to be completely burnt, shrivelled and dry. There were only 4 pieces packed in the box Instead of 8, as advertised by the restaurant. We complained on phone and sent pictures to the restaurant on Whatsapp, but apart from a weak statement of " We will look into it", nothing else. This was about 3 months ago.

Second time was only yesterday. We went, dined in, and ordered a lot of takeaway - 3 types of chicken main dish for our parents and children. Same story. Cream chicken was practically black! With black pepper! None of our family members could eat more than just one chuck. Their tongue and mouth started burning. It looked as if the cook had thrown in an entire packet of black pepper in the dish.

Now, this is once too many. I do not know how this restaurant has managed to survive since 1960 (as they claim) with this kind of third- rate quality they maintain.

To be fair, the soup we had, while dining in during the second time was not so bad but that's about it. Everything else went for a toss.

I would not recommend this place even to casual diners. Maybe the restaurant can serve a small catchment of local youngsters but it sure will NOT make it to the big league. It seems that the YouTube video was a paid promotion. There are many better places in Chandigarh to spend your money.

I regret writing such a harsh review, but repeated poor performance has to be...

ABC of non-vegetarian punjabi's the C stands for Chawla's. The brand doesnt need an introduction. The history of the brands speaks volumes of it . Keeping the legacy is a hard task and the new gen is on their toes to keep it up . This new franchise outlet in sector 7 is done beautifully, perfect place for family lunches and dinners. All the sourcing is done from the source ludhiana keeping the quality in check .

What to have - Non Veg - Starters- Murg kali mirch Tikka , Tandoori chicken , Garlic chicken Main Course - Cream Chicken , Butter Cream Chicken

Starters - Veg - Paneer Tikka , Cheese corn roll , Garlic mushroom , Malai Champ.

Main Course - Veg - Dal Makhni Black Jack Tadka , Paneer Tikka Masala , Cream Paneer Yes they do have a good section for vegetarians. The quality of paneer & soya chaap was superb. Highly recommended- paneer tikka , malai chaap , paneer tikka masala & cream paneer.

Now to the main talking point the non vegetarian section 😋 Chawla's have always been know for their cream chicken, chicken cooked in white gravy with dominant flavor of black pepper served with bread...

Went here for a family dinner with equal number of vegetarians and non vegetarians... Everything was perfect.. the starters, soup, main course.. service.. everything was impeccable..

Special mention about Afghani Chicken.. perfectly cooked pieces with generous topping of cream marination..

The good thing was everything was served steaming hot and quickly..

If you are looking for no frills North Indian fare, this is the place to be..

The interiors are also pretty neat and contemporary..
