I recently visited Nik Bakers, Sector 35, Chandigarh, after a few years, and it was nothing short of a massive disappointment. The experience has left me baffled as to how this once-reputable name has fallen so drastically in quality. Here's what went wrong:
Pizza Disaster: The Margarita and Smoked Chicken pizzas were an abomination. They were so overloaded with cheese that every bite tasted like a lump of bland cheese. The base was utterly tasteless, lacking any texture or flavor. To make matters worse, the toppings and cheese slid off the base with the slightest touch. And as for the pizza sauce? Completely flavorless—just a meaningless red smear.
Red Velvet Cake Failure: This dessert was essentially 90% cheap cream with a mere sprinkling of red velvet crumbs. It felt like a sham to call it a "red velvet cake."
Overpriced Tea in Paper Cups: Charging ₹250 for tea made with a tea bag and then serving it in paper cups is nothing short of daylight robbery. At this price point, you’d expect proper service, including porcelain or bone china cups, not disposable ones.
Terrible Fries: The fries were burnt, lacked salt or any seasoning, and were entirely inedible. It felt like an afterthought, hastily thrown together.
Lackluster Staff: The staff appeared uninterested, unmotivated, and downright depressed as if they were grossly underpaid and overworked. Their disinterest was palpable and made the dining experience even more uncomfortable. I've seen more enthusiastic service at cheap take-away joints than here.
In the five years since my last visit, Nik Bakers seems to have prioritized expansion over quality. Mr. Nik proudly touts his Australian connection, but this is a travesty and an abuse of that reputation. I have lived in Australia for over a decade and I know what good tasting food is like.
What was once a symbol of good taste and quality has now become a shadow of its former self, marred by substandard food and dismal service.
I would never recommend this place to anyone who values good food or service. It was my last visit, and I advise others to steer...
Read moreWe have had the sandwiches from this outlet today
I would love to share this episode because it's a memorable moment for us.
We were hungry and in a hurry we bought sandwiches to go.
Cost around 300 rupees approx as we took the first bite we found the brown bread is stale the sides of bread was super hard and tastes bitter.
I ran back to the store just because we were in the parking lot.
The security guy told me sir please stop this is not allowed, I thought he was Saying that outside food is not allowed so i show him the bill and the label of nik bakers, he replied sir please give the sandwich to me and i will call someone here please don't go to the counter "like i am going there to create a scene".
I told him with a smile I just want to talk and that's it.
Still he follows me to the counter..
What the hell was that? If a customer comes back to your outlet with food you just sold, simply to give feedback or raise a complaint is that how you handle it?
at the counter I told the staff its tastes stale the sides are very hard.
"The one at the counter offer me a replacement"
I told him to check it first. what if it is also similar to the one we had it's definitely stale.
Later on he check the both sandwiches the ones we lipped/bit on and the other one he told me its perfectly fine sir just by touching it and asked the manager what to do the manager said the same it's totally fresh.
I told him if you are giving a replacement please heat it up otherwise it's okay.
But what he done he took those sandwiches the ones we lipped put it in the oven and heat it up 🤣 after that maybe he grilled it as well. Because our sandwiches does have that texture of grill on both side
Honestly 30-40 Rupees brown bread from the market that has around 14 to 16 slices approx tastes better, softer and fresh than their 300 rupee for 2 slices.
Besides that we are so impressed by the hygiene level they maintained
How can someone do that..
