In my Experience and Perhaps also that of others.
Very Rude Male Staff. They look into your eyes like hostile bouncers. No eye manners, across all the male staff. Totally non-smiling / non- hospitality industry like.
No sense of what should be the sequence of an order. Food arrives on a table in a random sequence. Kept / served with a body language and manner of a street vending kiosk. They look at the customer and behave like rovers; trying to evaluate and scan the customer rather than be attentive to the order and service.
It seems like the staff is low paid, least mannered and trained with some customer hostile tactics rather than customer attending mannerisms. Very backward looking and regressive customer service.
My sympathies for the male staff. They appear low paid; perhaps demoralised; perhaps non-trained or wrongly trained.
Looking at similar reviews of the past, it seems the management of this place is happy with this rudeness. They neither want to train their male staff for better nor perhaps pay them more so that they look and behave more enthusiastic.
In my understanding there is a huge gap in the metal level and mentality of the customers who visit here and the Male staff who works here. This gap, in my understanding is being obfuscated by deploying rude behaviour.
I have sympathies for the person who has invested in the Blue Tokai at Safdarjung/ Deer Park, New Delhi. If it’s a franchise. The reason is that despite huge investment of resources, the day to day working of this place is perhaps pulling it down. It may be that the sales are going well because of the sheer demand supply situation in the area / locality. It may be that the immediate staff at the cafe thinks that customers and business is going to come anyways so why take any pains of doing proper behaviour. However, if just the issue of sale and demand and supply would have been a sufficient marker to meet, some of the best hotel brands of our country would not have developed and maintained high standards of service for decades now.
I believe that negative feedbacks are not being looked at as a genuine interest of the customer to help Blue Tokay Deer Park / Safdarjung, New Delhi fill the gaps and instead they are being looked at as something to stay clear of and duck; otherwise why rude behaviour feedbacks one after another.
I hope the management will do something about it.
The length of my feedback may inform to the higher management that there is something seriously wrong with the Safdarjung store’s Male Staff mannerisms but is being ignored for some reason or the other by people who are doing it or are responsible for correcting it.
I think the staff must be kind towards the owners of this cafe by mending their ways because after all it’s a huge investment and effort which goes into running an enterprise and they should show their Thankfulness towards their employer by being decent and respectful towards their customers. Even if their sales are going Ok. They must remeber that they are not just catering stuff but also evolving a brand image of Blue Tokai, each order at a time and each customer at a time.
I hope this...
Read moreI don't think I really need to say it but I shall, nonetheless - brilliant coffee as usual. This new outlet has opened just a day back (this review was posted on 9th September, 2018) and I couldn't help but visit this outlet as well.
It is no secret that I am in love with the wonderful coffee that they serve. And the best part about them, apart from the coffee ofcourse is the fact that their staff is brilliant and the ambience somehow makes you fall more and more in love with the entire theme of their cafe! Blue Tokai has been shifting the perspective of people when it comes to the coffee culture in India, and I'm really glad they're bringing in a change; a positive change.
I love Blue Tokai's different varieties, especially their Cappuccino, flat white, iced latte and coffee tonic. Overall, I love these guys. Totally do. 👌📸
Edit (March, 2022): The only real 'issue' I feel is the phone network, which somehow doesn't seem to work inside the cafe, but as soon as you step out, it's fine (both, cell reception for calls & 4G internet). However, since they've wifi, maybe you can make use of it when...

Update 24th Sept 2025:
This outlet near my home was shut for renovation for weeks, and I’ve just returned after what feels like three.
I’m disappointed. Blue Tokai is Blue Tokai—coffee and food are reliably good, staff is always chill. But Deer Park Blue Tokai was more than that. It felt like a community—remote workers, freelancers, consultants, founders—all sharing space, work, and conversation. Yes, people occupied tables for long hours, but that was exactly what gave the place its energy. I loved having that next door.
Now, the seating has been deliberately redesigned to be less work-friendly. Tables are smaller, round ones awkward for even two people, and only one larger unit exists with sofa-style seating for four. Space—the underrated Blue Tokai advantage—has shrunk.
After three weeks of closure, delay, and renovation hype, I wasn’t expecting this. It’s not their biggest outlet, but in such a prime location next to The Piano Man, it deserved...
