"Stormed The Fort for SHASN, Stayed for the Flavour & Vibes!"
Recently, my board gaming group and I gathered for a round of SHASNâand what better setting than The Fort in Hauz Khas?
Venue â âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (5/5) The Fort has a unique charm, blending the ambiance of a medieval-era tavern with the vibe of a modern gastropub. The dĂŠcor is thoughtfully curated, setting the perfect tone for both casual hangouts and vibrant social events. As a beer enthusiast, I particularly appreciated their selection of classic Belgian beer bottles. The lighting and music also create a great atmosphere for interactive evenings like quizzes or game nights.
Food â âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (5/5) We ordered a spread that included the Pulled BBQ Chicken Pizza, Louisiana Fried Chicken, English-style Crisps, Beetroot Gaulati Kabab, Andhra chiili chicken with Truffle naan, prawn rissois and Andhra Pork.
Pulled BBQ Chicken Pizza: The standout element was the barbecue sauceâperfectly balancing sweet and smoky notes. While the cheese could have been better, it was still a strong dish overall.
Louisiana Fried Chicken: A comforting classic. The toasted and buttered buns, sweet caramelized onions, and crispy chicken came together beautifully. Itâs a textbook executionâand thatâs exactly why it works.
English-style Crisps: While Iâm personally not a fan of curly fries, the presentation was top-notch. What really elevated the dish were the assorted Indian hot sauces served alongside.
Andhra Pork and Chilli Chivken: This was the unanimous favourite. The pork and chicken were incredibly tender and juicy, evoking nostalgic memories of meals at my Christian friendsâ homes in the South. Clearly, the chef or owner has strong South Indian culinary rootsâthe menu featured several Andhra-inspired dishes with a modern twist.
Beetroot Gaulati was just so refreshing and scrumscious a definate nice twist to a traiditional Delhi classic!
prawn Rissois Nice and crunchy with tasty ozzy stuffing. Something like mini prawn al kievs.
Drinks â âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (5/5) We sampled two in-house brews:
Daanav (Red Ale): A bold, bitter aleâright up my alley.
Spongebob (IPA): A lighter, white IPA with sweet and floral notesâperfect for someone who prefers a gentler profile.
Mango chilli Beer: A lighter refreshing beer with sweet notes and a contrasting slight spicy after taste. Full points for balancing the sweet and spicy notes
With six varieties of house-brewed beer, there's something for every palate.
Music â âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (4/5) The music selection was enjoyable, though the volume varied throughout the evening. There's even a DJ booth, which adds to the party potential. However, during peak hours, you may need to lean in a bit for conversations.
Service â âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ (5/5) The staff were warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. They patiently answered all my (many) questions about beer, and their friendly attitude added to the overall experience.
Final Thoughts: The Fort is a fantastic venue to unwind, indulge in unique flavours, and enjoy a laid-back evening. With delicious food, great craft beer, and a promising event space, itâs an ideal spot for gatherings of all kinds. Highly recommended for those looking to blend good times with...
Read moreAt the outset, till about 3-4 months back, this used to be a great place for in house brews, the beers were really nice and made me go back several times to enjoy the crafts. However the service has always been questionable. First up, the place is under-staffed so the service is really slow even on weekdays with little to no visitors. And then those who are there, are really not trained to handle customers. But none of my previous experiences there were as poor as my last visit, earlier this week (which is also going to be my last visit here). Not only were the beers kind of a let down, the staff was extremely rude. I was waiting for a friend till which time I asked for samplers of the craft beers. Right off the bat, the waiter asked me which ones I wanted to try. I mean no other micro brewery has ever asked me this, they bring all the options by themselves. Anyway, I picked 4 out of 6 to try. I ordered one and sat waiting for my friend to arrive. When he did come, we asked for another round of samplers for him. The waiter flat out refused saying that "a second round of samplers will be chargeable as per policy". It's not as if I sampled before and didn't order. I made a suggestion to at least let my friend sample the 2 that they didn't serve before, to which the waiter simply turned away and left, waving his hands with an air of "do whatever you want, I don't care". This, while I was still talking. This guy even refused to come later on and sent another waiter to bring us the bill. I have never seen such arrogance anywhere. On top of this, they had the gall to include service charge in the bill. Thankfully, they agreed to remove it on our insistence that we were not happy with their service. Its such a shame the staff is this way as the owners are really friendly and stand up guys. Anyway, I hope they look into this and make some changes. You are a service business at the...
Read moreIt was my first time I visited a brewery in India ever and this place was great. It reminds me of places I've been back home in the States. Good staff, food, and beers!
Inside decor is nice and very comfy. It seemed minimalist with nice artwork. Seemed to have brick walls with a nice bar. There was a few people out for a Friday. It was situated on the second floor with expanded room on the third while the tanks are on the first floor. Seats were good on high chairs but booths also available.
The beers are great and on par with brews in America and are decently priced. Was looking to taste their Rakshas and had been sold out. Their Shot In The Dark Stout was great as their Farmhouse, Sponge Bob, and Bad Reputation. Also had their onion rings with dipping sauce with tasty Indian spice. Would have tried their other foods on their big list but time was limited.
The staff was friendly and courteous. Guttam, I think was his name, had greeted me but also warned me if dogs were an issue to me which was not the case. Presumed the place was dog friendly. Took the time to explain about the beers and offered me to taste them. When all the while, the waiters were very attentive to me.
Great music selection ranging from disco to 70s and 80s music from America makes me feel at home.
This place gives me a lasting impression...
