Karnataka Bhawan 3 — Restaurant in Delhi

Naturally as every tourist from Karnataka wish, I too visited there to enquire for a room to stay. As usual the reply from care taking Front office desk was; we have to get it reserved in advance, from Ministry at Bangalore or from its Main centre at Kautilya Marg. This practice had not at all changed since 30 years. So anyone who keep hope of getting a room & visit there even on urgent requirements, just forget and keep roaming behind the officers or Politicians. It seems for the Karnataka Govt, only state Govt officers, White clad Politicians and their clouts are only eligible to stay and definitely not general people.

Only the front office staff were courteous enough to offer a cup of Coffee in their Dining hall (of course on payment basis). Generally dining place is only for residents' & not for walk in guests. Amazing authentic Kannada food. If you are planning to eat something heavy and stuffing, ask for their Mixed Uttapam. Sambhar preparation is different as it is in real life in each state of South India. Don't forget to ask for Masala Buttermilk (although its not on menu as-is and only plain buttermilk is offered) for all foodies out there, you will love it. Forgot to mention old Hindi songs in background, adding to its charming ambience. Never tried the Filter Coffee, but quality and authenticity of all the food items ordered assured that it must be superb. It is owned by Government of Karnataka, with hygiene, cooling, cleanliness, authentic food and supporting staff, its been one of the best authentic South Indian restaurants in North India you can & should...

Before visiting there, i saw review on youtube and googled about it. they show the place to be authentic and economical, but i experience the opposite to it. Menu was updated, as shown by other reviews, its more costly now, also i feel food is tasteless. They served me lemon rice, though i asked for puliyugare. Also you won't all menu items there, they only have couple of them, so asking for menu is a time waste. Rather one should ask what they have in stock.

Ambience was really good, very peaceful.

Service was too slow, i had to ask 3 times and they took more than 30min to bring the order...
