If the first impression for anyone about this class eatery is that it serves great Non vegetarian Bengali cuisine and has limited options for vegetarians then i must tell you that you have to try here before coming to any conclusion. 5 years back when i first visited this place with my friend i had a similar view as i am a hard core vegetarian. But if you are a non vegetarian then this place is a jannat if you love Bengali food. More than 25 years in business the place has some unique charm. You don't feel like eating in a restaurant even when the times have become very modern. The ambience, cutlery everything has been kept very basic and no nonsense fancy stuffs are around. Let me tell you this is the reason i am attracted to this place because i feel like having HOME FOOD or Ghar ka khaana everytime i eat here. 100Rs and your stomach is full till neck. With simple moong Dal, steamy hot basmati rice, with fried papad, aachar, aaloo bhaaja and aloo poshto or Patoldolma.. You are out and your capacity to eat more will be exhausted as the taste is so satisfying with every morsel you eat is what it makes unique.. Try it out yourself to believe it. Well after getting reviews from friends who have tried non vegetarian food here, they undoubtedly like all variety of fish curry whether it is Rohu, illish, chingri, Bhetki or any other sea fish. Illish Bapa is good here, Chingri Malai curry is sweet but unique. Mutton and chicken varieties to try in Bengali style is worth. They also have several varieties of Daal and rice to try out. Some other features to note about them are : #last order at 11 pm #They do deliver at home and are also listed on Zomato and swiggy #They accept all cards VISA, MASTERCARD, AMEX and paytm #food is served fresh and hot #price is moderate #staff is friendly and they suggest you the right choice #conviniently located in cr park market number 2.parking can be an issue #All food are made in Mustard oil. Hence there is a pungent taste which is the uniqueness of Bengali cuisine So next time you want to have something homely in a right budget do try out this lovely place and yes enjoy eating the food with your own hands without use of any cutlery. Trust me on that. You will thank me later for this. Hope you have found this information useful. Please encourage with your likes if you found it informative and...
Read moreMa Tarra Restaurant proudly stands out as a haven for exceptional Bengali cuisine aficionados. This eatery holds an undisputed reputation for serving some of the most tantalizing and authentic Bengali dishes in town.
The menu at Ma Tarra Restaurant is a treasure trove of traditional Bengali flavors that tantalize the taste buds and evoke a sense of nostalgia. From classic fish preparations to aromatic biryanis and soul-soothing sweets, each dish is a testament to the culinary richness of Bengal.
However, amidst the gastronomic delight, the restaurant's ambiance falls short of matching the brilliance of its cuisine. The setting might lack the finesse or ambiance of a more upscale dining spot, occasionally detracting from the overall experience.
Yet, what it lacks in ambiance, Ma Tarra compensates for with its unparalleled dedication to delivering authentic Bengali flavors. The staff's hospitality and the passion behind the food preparation contribute significantly to the overall appeal.
For those craving an authentic Bengali culinary experience, Ma Tarra Restaurant remains a top choice despite its ambiance shortcomings. The exceptional taste and quality of the food here transcend any limitations in the ambiance, making it a go-to destination for those seeking an unadulterated journey through the...
Read moreI don't know where to start with. But this place has the horrible food items. They have fish fingers that's 'made of Bhetki maach' but it neither taste like Bhetki nor smell like Bhetki. Then their Kolkata Chicken Biryani! It has fried chicken along with potato and egg!! I mean who fries chicken/Potato/Egg in Biryani? Then last but not the least, their chicken fried rice tasted more like Delhitian Food than Kolkatan! Adding to that, the size of fish fingers were more like of lady's finger (Bhindi - small and thin ; hardly any fillings of Bhetki maach into it!!).
I mean HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO KOLKATA FOR ONCE IN A LIFETIME? I doubt that chef of yours is actually a bengali or not ; or has he ever tasted a bengali food?!
And yes the place: It's so congested. There's no place to sit comfortably. A few typical 'rastar hotel' chairs and table with ACs that doesn't keep you chilled at all.
I just came out of that restaurant wasting ₹829/- on their pukish food items.
Seriously if someone really is going to applaud their food items and preparations especially now during Durga Puja Festival; I would say 'Please come to Kolkata and taste street hotel's ₹100/- ₹200/- takar Mach bhaat'. You'll feel the difference. Seriously wastage of...
