Maxim's Bakers & Confectioners — Restaurant in Delhi

Located in Kailash Colony Main market stretch, we find this much celebrated cake and pastry shop MAXIMS. It’s a fairly sized outlet but not very spacious with regard to eating and seating space. You can get cakes, pastries, pizza, burgers, patties, subs, rolls, footlongs etc. basically it is a typical bakery however quite overpriced and hyped. We ordered Nutella cheese pastry and the chocolate cream cheese truffle. As for the price we pay at maxims, the taste was not great, it was average.

The pastries which was served to us were not fresh at all, were atleast 3 days old, priced as high as 90-95Rs. The flavours had intermingled with other pastries kept side to side, the sponge was dry and the creme had hardened. To be honest according to the hyped recommendations about maxims which we heard, the pastries were really not worth the price. We’d rate the pastries a 1 Star.

They also provide on-order cakes, which are absolutely wonderful, especially the chocolate truffle, the cake is fresh and the sponge is moist and layerd between ganache. They provide beautifully customised designs too, we’d rate their cakes 3.5.

Worst people behind the counter. Heartless to say the least. Went to Maxim’s today to buy many things but came out with zero stuff - all because of high-headedness of their person behind the counter. My senior citizen aunt started to feel quite weak and we wanted her to quickly eat something. Hence I requested a person at the counter packing things for people to please heat it so that we can give to the person who wasn’t feeling well. In normal circumstances, you will find others understanding and cooperative. But not so at Maxim’s. The person told me “atcha, toh baaki packing rok kar main aapki cheez heat kar dun” - this when he was informed that it’s for a person who is not feeling well, and that I was buying other things too and that can wait to be packed. But he was rude to the core. And I highlighted this to the so-called manager who was useless totally and had no say or impact whatsoever. I have been to Maxims a good deal of times before. It is definitely my restaurant préféré. For my part, I can't get enough of their cold coffee. A small detail I particularly adore is how they always create a special motif in the froth with chocolate syrup (Hershey's I think it was). Other than that, I had a Paneer Mini-Roll and a Butter Paneer Hot-Dog. Though the mini-roll was no great shakes like the coffee (see what I did there?), I frothed (I'm good at this!) at the mouth for the latter.

Overall, the prices were agreeable (not ghastly overpriced) and the food a solid 10/10. However, there was the problem of seating. I don't mind that we had to stand at tables, but it would be nice to have more of them as Maxims becomes quite crowded as the day progresses and especially on...
