Worst dining experience of my life!!
Yes, I have never had sharp objects served in my food at any place whatsoever! Not even by roadside vendors!! But after being served with 2 dishes and having almost hurt my our gums, the response we got was - “It happens sometimes”!! Yeah, I kid you not. The staff just pretended to care and were even smiling and giggling unless we actually told them that it does not happen.
So, it was a long nice day, we thought let’s try this new place that has opened up in Nehru Place.
First, there was a sharp dry fruit solid shell piece which was around a cm in one of the dishes. We reported the same to the staff. The response was very casual, it happens sometimes, we will ask the chef and they took back the dish.
We were not happy with the response but decided to let it slip and ordered main course.
Now, the waiter who took our order appeared to be somewhat drunk and really overworked. Had to repeat the order multiple times, rechecked what he wrote down and then he again forget while punching it in (the system was right next to our table so we could see) and had to ask some other waiter to check it.
We order dal e khaas ( nothing special as the name says). Very below average dal makhani. Would advise to skip (skip going to this place would be much better for your health and mental well being)
Okay, all good! Let’s not ruin our mood. The dessert came now! Tasted sweet and nice at first, then again a pistachio shell piece in my mouth (smaller but sharper than the previous one). Again, same attitude from the staff. We were waiting to hear back or see what’s happening. No serious response. Not until we specifically raise this issue, the staff apologized. Still not very concerned, we were told that if we raise the issue, they will check their stock. So not sure if they did that!
Now I have no idea whether I or my friends swallowed something. We asked the restaurant for a written apology. We were asked to file for an FIR. They seemed really confident to be able to handle those affairs.
We paid the bill and left!
Strictly recommended to avoid unless to love to eat solid objects or dry...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Qavalli, Nehru Place and it was a truly memorable experience. The ambience is absolutely stunning—everything is handcrafted with great attention to detail. The seating is exceptionally comfortable, and I especially loved the beautifully designed outdoor area.
One of the highlights for me was the hand-painted ceiling by skilled artisans, paired with grand chandeliers that add a regal charm to the space. Even the lift had a design element, adorned with Mughlai carpets that set the tone right from the start. If you are looking for a private dining area on the upper deck of the restaurant.
As I arrived, I was warmly welcomed with a specially curated welcome drink, offered to every guest—a thoughtful touch that instantly made me feel special. The food, prepared by Chef Islahuddin Khan, was exquisite. Each dish was full of flavor and perfectly tailored to suit the Indian palate.
A special mention to Nipun, the restaurant head, whose warm and welcoming smile set the mood for every guest. And a big shout-out to Narender and Ramesh for their impeccable and personalized service. They truly went above and beyond.
Thank you, Nipun and team, for such a delightful experience. Qavalli is a must-visit—highly recommended. I am coming back again for sure...
Read moreWe got there around 9:50 and asked the host for a table of 3 to which his reply was “Sir, cover charge is Rs5000 per person after 10:30” but we could se other people going in straight inside (definitely saw 2-3 times). My partner came from Australia so I definitely wanted to let her have that Sufi traditional experience so I agreed to pay, even though I didn’t wanted to, but felt like I have to. Thats how they can judge and charge you on any basis. Even after agreeing to, they conveyed that they only have a high table that can only fit 2 of us. Well, what was all this drama for? The minute we were about to leave, a family of 15 saw us and told us that they are cancelling their table because they were not introduced anymore, so I asked the host in front of that family that if they can split the tables and let the 3 of us in, but they were just not interested.
For sure, wasn’t worth the experience we were looking for. But other places in the same area who had a waiting, made sure they accommodated us...
