An oriental fine dining experience located in the heart of greater kailash, takashi is one of the must visit places in any asian cuisine connoisseur's list. The staff was super polite and super helpful. The service was excellent and they took extra care to make us feel comfortable. We ordered three dishes, Salmon maki sushi, Prawn Mushroom Kamameshi (suggested by the staff) and Pork Katsu Curry. Sushi was perfect, the fish was fresh, had no smell, served with pickled ginger and wasabi that didn't taste like horseradish, it was one of the most authentic sushi i have had. Kamameshi came in an iron pot which is called kama. It had prawns, rice and enoki mushrooms. The dish tasted like ocean, and every bite felt light, fresh and refreshing. It was quite similar in concept to a korean bibimbap. The Katsu Curry was the show stealer for me. Pork belly cutlet, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, oozing with flavour, on top of japanese sticky rice and a traditional curry, it was the perfect dish. It was something i can eat everyday. Taste wise the curry tasted a lot like Curry flavoured top ramen. Overall it was a very good experience and the place is worth a try if you want to try authentic japanese without...
Read moreThis restaurant is not good for the price of eating here. I went with a group of friends and our refreshers/ice tea were watery. The chicken karage was decent, but was paired generic mayo instead of japanese mayo as they claim. The prawn yaki udon was average, nothing special. The sushi was absolutely horrid, do not order their sushi! When my friends and I ordered the sushi boat we were shocked at how clumsily the sushi was made -it was messy and tasted bad. I would not recommend going here and spending so much money for mediocre food in a city which has so many good japanese restaurants.
I will only give this a three star rating by the grace of the good service I received while at this restaurant by the kind waiters.
edit: the response the restaurant gives claims my critique is such because of my limited exposure to Japanese cuisine. that’s a funny thing to assume about someone who has lived in Japan.
i will reiterate, the sushi here is terrible. go to a better restaurant like Call Me Ten in Basant Lok for a considerably...
Read moreNice place but a bit overhyped! Was expecting the food to be way better as so many had written such amazing stuff! The spinach salad in sauce was superb! Chicken dimsums were good, fried calamari was a disaster( not crispy at all) both the sushi we ordered was good, salmon sashimi was good but just 2 pieces?, the pork belly was disappointing( had a boiled feel to it), the prawn fried rice was very good! Service was superb and the staff very polite! Alcohol is expensive! The Gourmet Planet card saved our outing as it was value for money for the evening! Taken one star off just because of the 2 of my favourite things disappointed! Also they have a strange Guest Dining Charge(GDC) which is basically a replacement for the regular ‘service charge’! When asked we were told it’s for the lights and decor! Left a bad taste! We did pay it as a service charge as we were very happy with the service but...
