Antares was on our list for few years, especially after becoming fans of Sarah Todd from Masterchef Australia. Located next to Ozran beach with an extended view of Vagator beach, the restaurant is placed ideally to give a picturesque view of the sea.
We visited on a Sunday night for dinner, so the ambience was on point. The entire restaurant was lit beautifully with lights and the DJ was putting up a great piece with a good mix of western and Indian hits. If you’re not a fan of loud music, then avoid visiting on a Sunday night because the music is blasted to full volume.
Service however was a bit questionable. The restaurant was hardly half full when we visited but we weren’t given our choice of table. On asking, they told that there was some technical glitch in their software which was stopping them from shifting us, which was an unconvincing argument. On some persuasion, we were given a better table. Next, we were denied drinking water and the reason cited was that they were out of normal drinking water and only had bottled water which was priced exorbitantly high. On asking another serving staff, we were served normal drinking water. I guess they were trying to pull a stunt to sell more bottled water which seems like a cheap shot at making a few more bucks considering that the average price on the menu is 1000+.
We ordered PERU PERU mocktail which was below average. The drink hardly had any flavor of guava which it was based on and tasted like a half-hearted attempt.
The GINGER BEER however was a good one. It was a bottled beer, so no extra points to Antares on that but I’d recommend that if you’re looking for a non-alcoholic beverage option over their mocktails.
The star of the night was the KERALA FISH MOILEE. The coconut milk gravy with black rice was itself a masterstroke but the drilled fish on top of it made it a meal to remember. Full marks to the chef for making sure that the dish was cooked to perfection. The portion size was also decent for 2 to share especially because of the creaminess that coconut milk brings in.
All in all, Antares can be visited if you’re looking to enjoy a fine dining experience with club vibes. The staff however really needs to get their...
Read moreIt's an amazing place for young and solo travelers BUT if you are planning to go with your family it's a BIG NO !!
We booked Ocean Front Room for 3 days but due to such bad experience we left in just 1 day, and as per hotel policy no refund claimed.
Inaccessible for Older or Less Mobile Guests: The resort's numerous hard-to-climb stairs make it suitable only for young, fit individuals who enjoy climbing. Even fit people after 1 or 2 rounds you will feel not go back to room.
Poor Arrival Experience: Upon arrival, it took us a frustrating 20 minutes to locate someone at the reception. We were then informed that the parking area is a 500-meter walk away in the open, and we had to carry our luggage ourselves, even in the rain, without any assistance, despite having a 2-year-old baby with us.
Lack of Rain Protection: There were no umbrellas or arrangements to shield guests from the rain while crossing the open sky area to reach their rooms.
Inconsiderate Noise Levels: The resort and near by clubs plays loud music until 5 am, making it impossible for guests with young children to find any peace and quiet.
Safety Hazards: Returning to your room late at night can be perilous due to inadequate lighting. Missing a step on the dark stairways could result in serious accidents and potential hospitalization.
Cramped and Moist Rooms: The rooms at Antares Restaurant & Beach Club were disappointingly small, and a persistent issue with wet floors made it uncomfortable to move around.
Though one of the staff was really helpful who arranged for a medicine for us.
Overall, while the location is fantastic, the resort falls far short of living up to its reputation and is not suitable for guests seeking a peaceful and safe environment, especially for families with young children or those with mobility issues. If you are looking for a day trip or just join the club, for party, it's a...
Read moreMy parents and I did a road trip from the North to Goa and decided to experience the good things of life along the way. On my insistence we went to Antares while in North Goa and the manager behaved like a p!g who struggles to keep its drivel in his mouth. In my desire to keep things smooth and pleasant, I'd made reservations but despite evidence the guy at reservations started arguing with me. Like my last time there I wanted to sit at the edge with the view. Even though it was completely empty, the management wouldn't let us sit there. We sat where they said and ordered cocktails. Then the manager arrived and asked me if we would spend more than 9k. Taken aback by his idea of hospitality, I told him we usually spend well. He granted us permission to sit in the empty area and hoping to not spoil my outing with my parents, I ignored his cheap behaviour and tried to spend our evening as planned. We ordered our drinks n food and enjoyed the view, the food and the service of the waiting staff. When we asked for the check that same fat cheapster came to our table and tried to impress upon us the huge favour he did to us by letting us sit here despite us being late for our reservation. We were well on time and that's verifiable. In any case to do that to guests who've just spent 10-12k is grating and a poor standard of hospitality. Even I felt beneath me to argue with someone like that, let alone my parents and just ignored him. That swine spoilt our experience at Antares. Even the managerial staff at Chef Sarah Todd's Wine Rack in Mumbai is similarly pig-headed. The public interface staff at Sarah Todd's restaurants in India has a 'dhandha' ethos and ways, completely unfit for restaurants and hospitality. It's a mistake she has allowed such people to be the face of her restaurants. I'm sure I'm not the only one put off by them and avoiding eating there despite...
