Lovely little bar in the by lanes near one of the most famous churches in Panjim. It's one the 1st floor and you've got to climb a narrow steep staircase to get there, it's easy to miss so keep an eye out for it. Once you enter inside, you'll find multiple smaller sections or rooms where you can find a table to sit down and relax. It's a very communal feel to it with people from other tables mingling with each other. There's also a narrow balcony section which has a few tables that can accommodate 2 each. We've been here a few times and noticed mostly local visitors and some international tourists. The beer cocktail (I forget the name) is a popular favourite here and is our regular order too. The bhindi kurkure and prawn wafers are favourite bar snacks here. We also tried the chicken poutine which is pretty good initially but then it gets too heavy to finish because it's so overloaded with butter. The ambiance is average—not too flashy, but not too rundown either. It does the job, but there’s definitely room for improvement in terms of lighting and seating comfort. The music can get a bit too loud at times, making conversation difficult.
Service was a bit hit-or-miss—some staff were friendly, while others seemed disinterested. The food was decent, but nothing particularly memorable.
Overall, BAR 51 is fine for a casual outing, but it doesn’t really stand out. With some effort on service and ambiance, it could be...
