It is located at little remote place in main Panaji, being narrow internal road and mostly residential place parking four wheeler is little challenging. task. But the best part is there is always present friendly, cheerful and very helpful Security Guards who would help you guide parking, welcoming in the restaurant.
So as we entered as I told we were welcomed at the entrance by the Security. And inside ambience looked super cool and pleasing to eyes. Everything looked decent and clean.
Nice comfy chairs, table having knife, fork, spoon, napkins, designer glass. I was getting vibe of some 5 star hotel. Then there was TV. To cater needs of introvert like me đ€.
At that time there were already 2 guests there celebrating birthday and Anniversary over there. Even after being both table a complete stranger they were wishing and being part of the celebration. It was becoming short friendly event, out of peer pressure even we wished. Outing with friends being Indian and Peer Pressure Uk đ.
So it was a long time and we decided what to order searching for most âanokhaâ dishes and were searching for waiter. We waited waited and waited. No one responding so at last the one at reception arrived. Took our order. It was Thai restaurant most of the names are all fancy. We ordered Starters and Drinks.
So first thing they brought was some weird smelling pickle mixed with cabbage (maybe some Thai delicacies). And went on with Starters. For a long time mocktail or even water was not offered which disappoint me. Waiter came to serve food properly. Changed plates cleared the table. They were doing good jobs, maybe coz of 2 tables with celebration made them occupied
Starting with Butter Garlic Calamari, it was the most tastiest food there, loved it a lot. We also tried lamb, it mostly tasted of coconut oil but good to taste. Then comes Dragon chicken, it wasnât that pleasing just basic.
Then came the mocktails, Goenchin Delight is just a watermelon juice with sugar syrup, Green Temptation is proper Rooh Afza. I loved Fresh lime more than anything though. Theirs speciality is cocktails so nothing to comment.
Then for main course we again started hunting for the waiter. After we getting ignored for some time same person came. Took our order. Waiter was good, he helped us choose the dishes. So we ordered Lemon oyster Chilly chicken (letâs call it Chi chi oy le (the thing they mentioned in bill)) and Prawns Fried rice. Combination together was good. But if you to take it singly Fried rice seems dry and chi chi oy le is with too much sauce.
Overall it was good. While waiting we had some eves dropping of nearby table they were saying since 40 years their taste is exact same and maintained awesome. Donât know which dish they had ordered but would like to try it. Would ask the owner next time if I...
Read moreWent here for dinner on 24/02/2023. Had the crab meat soup which was the best (the crab flavour was really coming through). For starters we had Balachung prawns (prawns in on oriental style gravy which includes dried prawns as well) was salty but quite tasty. The Chicken pepper salt was also good, (coated fried pan tossed chicken in a peppery onion sauce). The Squid in Basil sauce was the pick of the staters (the squids were cut quite uniquely which helped it to imbibe the delicious sauce, even the veggies in the dish tasted awesome) For the main course we had the Crab meat fried rice which was delicious but spicy (and a bit dry, you will need some gravy dish to go along with) And we had the Seafood special hot noodles which were awesome, infused with the flavour of prawns and fish, also had veggies, cherry tomatoes, and oyster mushrooms (which gave a delicious crunchy texture to the meal).
The menu mentions which dishes are spicy, but can be made less spicy as per choice. A bowl of Kimchee is given complimentary. The staff are courteous and quick, service timely.
Goenchin, in my opinion, is the best place for Oriental/Chinese cuisine in Panjim. It has stood the test of time and the competition which new restaurants may offer (but usually do not). As evident by the rush which is always there at dinner time. Preferable to call and reserve a table...
Read moreGoenchin was Konkani Kitchen loss. We didn't get a table in Konkani Kitchen which landed us at Goenchin who joyfully relishes the full occupancy of KK. Goenchin as the name suggests primarily serves Chinese cuisine. They claim that they are no.1 Oriental restaurant in Goa. The decor in the restaurant is predominantly in Red with lots of chinese lanterns. We visited the restaurant when they were celebrating Chinese New Year - Year of She'. As we were quite hungry, we order Manchow Chicken Soup and Lemon Coriander Soup along with Spring Rolls. The lemon coriander was much better than Manchow soup. The spring rolls were also nice. For the main course we settled for Goenchin Herbs Rice Chicken and Chicken Singapore Style. Both the dishes were largely ok. The restaurant serves lamb, pork and seafood in addition to the poultry. They also serve alcohol. The approach is easy and people of all ages can find it convenient. I felt the place a little congested and 'dark'. It may be at best another option to taste Oriental food, though, we did not tasted sea food or red meat options. Do share a like if you found the review helpful for making a choice for yourself....
