TL; DR Version - Head to Saraya Art Cafe if you're looking for some delicious vegetarian and/or vegan food in a setting that is not only beautiful and peaceful but is also environmentally conscious.
š½ļø Food - We had the Pesto pizza, Stuffed Breaded Mushrooms and two sandwiches Summertime and Treasure. š The pizza was lip smacking with a generous topping of rocket leaves, pesto and cherry tomatoes. Roasted garlic and Feta add another level of flavour and texture to the pizza. The quality and freshness of the ingredients was obvious in the taste especially the pesto. MUST ORDER especially if you're a Pesto fan.
š„ŖMust must order their sandwiches. The sandwiches are made with Poi (local Goan bread) and served with a side of salad (beetroot slices topped with sprouts, olives etc.). We had the Buried Treasure sandwich which had a stuffing of Hummus and salad. Loved this so much that we ordered another sandwich.
Summertime Sandwich is a mushroom lovers delight. It has crumbled shammi kebab and mushrooms and is well toasted so the Poi also tastes delicious.
š The Stuffed Breaded Mushrooms were the only disappointment but that also because my benchmark was very high post the first few dishes. I couldn't really taste the flavor of cilantro, garlic and butter in these and hence wouldn't probably order if I do visit again.
Overall, š¤µService - The staff is cheerful and friendly. The food takes some time to come although that's because they make everything fresh and hence the prep time. Also, you're in Goa so kickback and relax..good things come to those who wait! :)
š”š¶ Ambience - Lanterns made with old sarees/clothes, lots walls adorned with glass bottoms, LED lights and wooden benches. All this and more make this a simple yet beautiful place that makes you want to chill here for time immemorial. This is actually also an ecostay hotel and an art gallery so when one goes in towards the washrooms/library, you can see the tastefully done interiors. There was a hammock right next to a small fountain pool which had a constant soothing music of water dripping. LAZY WEEKEND GOALS!
Overall, this is another one of Goa's top food places and is now on my must visit list. Head to Saraya not only for the food but also the vibe and maybe also plan a stay at their eco...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLocated on the busy street, at first it might be little difficult to locate through the road. They tried giving shack/hut (typically like beach side) type look to it, putting coconut leaves, and as roof with chandelier made of clothes, various forms of arts everywhere. Though itās still not completely ready and itās outdoor seating, itās was cool even in hot days going on. More like Russian environment. With staff great at their hospitality and socialising skills. Or you can say the cutest people to serve.
There were also Dogs there, fluffy, playful. So surely itās great place to loose track of time. Staff have even kept names to the pets. Also there is boutique over inside.
Coming to the main part, āfoodā, itās expensive. Specially the beverages part. Though beverages are looked up by Ruby, which is some different business inside this, so you need to separately go and place order but they serve you on table. They tried making things natural so you will hardly get white sugar instead they have Jaggery in serving which may slightly taste off at first for some. Taste wise these beverages were good but seems expensive.
Though main speciality I heard is Hummus. Yet do try Quattro formaggi Pizza, amalgamated 4 cheese is just so natural to taste, with thin base served hot. Even the Margaretta Pizza is so much better than Dominos.
It took time for order to come though but environment there was so good we couldnāt notice the time going until one of the staff came to us and said sorry to taking long on its own.
Would love to visit it again probably by then decorations out is complete. I believe it would be financially so difficult for them to manage it, yet itās nicely decorated.
They also have live music and concerts making it lively and happening place mostly at night. Specially Ukulele lovers would...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe stayed here one night whilst in Porvorim, I read TripAdvisor thoroughly before hand and the pictures looked great, really arty and alternative, in reality it is a bit sorry.|Leaves absolutely everywhere in the grounds and the whole place seems under development still. There were large areas in the complex of just nothing but baron wasteland, signs pointing to workshop space or to their allotment but nothing to see or take interest in... I get that it's April but this place is in Sangolda which isn't a touristy place, for the type of retreat this is claiming to be online there should be more going on. ||The staff were friendly enough but if you're after a quiet and comfortable good night's sleep this is certainly not the place. ||A pack of about 6-7 dogs howled and barked all night outside our earth house, at no point did any staff come to divert them to another area. ||The bed was hard as anything, it was like laying down on a sheet of concrete.||When I got up outta bed to use the toilet in the night I fell down the huge step right by the bed and almost smacked my face off a big tree in the centre of the room, a complete an utter safety hazard!||The mozzy net was covered in living creepy crawlies, the room was gloomy and just wasn't somewhere I could ever feel relaxed in. |The whole place is lacking in comfort as well as vibe.||Having said that about the accommodation the place does have a lovely sitting area outside just as you walk in where the pizza oven is and the pizza that I tried was probably the best I've ever tasted - I'm not a pizza fan but after eating a 10" I wanted more here. |But I'm sorry though guys this is just not enough to make me ever...
