Sangolda Shack Restobar — Restaurant in Goa

Sangolda Shack Resto bar is just next to the very busy Chowgam Road. We visited the restaurant for a family lunch. It was around 1.30 pm and the place was full. They have a parking space but it can accommodate maximum 5-6 midium sized cars. They have limited dinning space as well and hence availability of a table could be a challenge especially during peak hours. However on waiting for couple of minutes we got a table. They have two sections, one is open to air while the other is Air Conditioned. We opted to seat on the outside as there was nice afternoon breeze and personally I long for spending some time at leisure in an open environment. Though the restaurant is just next to the road, the traffic was not a botheration. On settling down we ordered for Manchow soup along with Fish Chilli and drinks (Blue Lagoon, Fruit Fantasy and Chocolate Milk Shake). Soup was good and fish was nice. For the main course, while I settled for Goan Fish (Chonak) Thali, family ordered for Cheese Garlic Naan, Chicken Masala. Surprisingly, they served the Naan before the soup and as we were hungry we finished it off before the soup was served. Possibly they served the Naan on the wrong table. Fish thali was largely good though the portion of fish was relatively small. Shells were good. Chicken was just ok. I feel that the place specialises in local cuisine. This was apparent as their were lots of local guest. Please note that the restaurant have pork and beef in their menu. They even serve Tongue Roast! We were able wrap our lunch under an hour. Went for Saturday lunch, at this interesting Shack, located down (LHS) Sangolda slope. Liked the rustic shack feel. Drinks: Margarita; Mountain Mojito (mocktail). Beer (served chilled, with cold beer mugs). - all good. Starters: Pork chilli fry Tongue Roast Beef cutlet poe All above 3 items were Excellent in taste ! (besides generous portion). Their Goan Chef is indeed talented, went inside to compliment him & thank him (tip too). Entrée: chicken kathi roll with egg - v good & filling. Overall had a pleasant experience. Note: they have mainly Alfresco seating; besides 2 tables in the air conditioned quiet indoors. Service was attentive, by young Ram. Found the rates very reasonable, while liquor rates are indeed low (all items tax inclusive!).
