Edit (Visited this week): The taste quality of the thali has gone down and trust me, I'm the saddest of all. I went there all the way from Panjim with such high hopes after my previous experience. But it was a huge huge letdown. We ordered Masala Prawns separately and that was amazing. But the thali has rice which was little undercooked, The fish fry was too oily, the kismur smelled odd and was just more of onions than dried prawns. Also, the curry, ambotik and crab curry were just another let down altogether. 😭 Saddened at this. The meal was nothing but a waste of money
My review a year ago:
Totally in love with the food here. Very homely taste with a fine fine ambiance. Look in a small corner of the Margao City in South Goa, Spicy restaurant serves a finger-licking good fish thali. Personally speaking, I never finish a huge thali completely. I always keep 1 or 2 dishes untouched because they either taste or smell bad. But this one, right from the salad to those crispy sour jalebis, I devoured every bit of the thali.
The curry was prepared the Hindu Goan household way and was yum to the T. The pomfret fry was super fresh, marinated well and tasty. It's making my mouth water now. Going by the name of the restaurant, the food here brings out the right level of spiciness that Goan Households use for the food. And it's worth the 250 rupees I paid...
Read moreWe visited this place one afternoon to try their fish Thali. We were 4 of us and wanted to share 2 thalis. The waiter refused and said sharing isn’t allowed check the menu. We said we eat less and we don’t like to waste food and whatever extra we take we will pay for it, he refused. The manager was pretty weird too he said thats a loss for us so we don’t allow sharing. While we were talking to the manager the waiter comes again and pressurises us to give the order saying that I have already told you, rules are rules. Firstly their thalis are overpriced Secondly good thalis are available at so many other places so why order extra and waste rather we chose to walk out and go to a place that has better hospitality. Wherein you pay for what you eat. There are multiple places in goa where you can share a thali and also take extra rice and pay for it. Which is a fair deal to the restaurant as well as the customer. When you go out to a restaurant and spend your money you don’t want a place with so many rules and people with rigid behaviours. The employees at the restaurant can’t decide what we should eat...
Read moreThe food was absolutely amazing. We had Kingfish Thali, Chonak Thali, mutton Biryani, Jira rice and Baingan gravy here. All of them were very tasty and for vegetarians, the baingan is the dish worth trying. Including the ice creams and the lemon juice the cost came upto ₹450 per person, which seemed decent for the quality of the food. They do provide finger bowl, and sanitise after every usage of the table. The ambience here is beautiful too! There is temperature check as well at the entrance. Only negative was the service was not that great, staff were not very friendly, (may be not their mistake too, because there were maximum 3-4 people to take care of around 8-10 tables. There were absolutely not ready for any small customisation in food). We were waiting for a particular table, and were asked to be seated on another one till then. They were not even willing to give us drinking water till we shifted to our table. There is a rest room here, which was clean when we went. Overall it will be a great experience for foodies if you are okay to ignore the service and just focus...
