I recently visited Raviraj Cafe, a mid-range restaurant offering both air-conditioned (AC) and non-AC seating options. Overall, it provides a decent dining experience, but there are a few aspects worth mentioning to help you set expectations before your visit.
Ambiance & Cleanliness: The cafe itself is clean and well-maintained. It’s not the most pristine place you’ll ever dine at, but it’s certainly good enough for a casual meal. The air-conditioned section offers a more comfortable and cooler atmosphere, while the non-AC area is a bit more basic but still manageable. The cleanliness is acceptable but could be improved a bit to make it feel more inviting. That said, it’s a comfortable place to eat without any major hygiene concerns.
Food Quality & Taste: Now, when it comes to food, there are some hits and misses.
Rava Dosa: We started with a classic Rava Dosa, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to expectations. The dosa was overly crisp and a bit on the hard side, which made it tough to enjoy. The accompanying sambhar and chutney were a bit of a letdown too. Both the sambhar and chutney had a watery consistency, lacking the depth and richness you'd hope for with this dish.
Thali:The highlight of our meal was the Thali, which offered a more satisfying experience overall. However, I’d recommend confirming the exact vegetables they have on the Thali beforehand, as it can vary. The kheer, which is usually a favorite in most Thalis, was more water than milk — not as creamy and rich as expected. On the other hand, the curd was fresh and delicious, definitely a standout.
The dal in the Thali was absolutely the best part. It was flavorful and perfectly spiced, offering a comforting taste that balanced the meal. The Paneer dish was also quite good, with tender chunks of paneer in a mildly spiced gravy that complemented the dal nicely. The rest of the items were decent but nothing to write home about.
Drinks: One of the more disappointing aspects was the limited selection of soft drinks. They don't offer popular options like Pepsi, Thums Up, or Sprite, which might be a letdown for those looking for familiar choices. We opted for 7Up, but the glass bottles didn’t look very clean or well-maintained. Additionally, the MRP on the bottle was ₹18, but we were charged ₹30, which felt a bit unfair given the state of the drink packaging.
Service: The service was average. The staff was polite but not particularly quick, and there didn’t seem to be a sense of urgency in delivering orders. However, there were no significant issues in terms of responsiveness.
Final Thoughts: Raviraj Cafe is a decent option if you're looking for a no-frills meal in the area. The food is serviceable, with a few dishes like the Thali and dal standing out. However, the Rava Dosa was a letdown, and the limited drink selection, along with pricing inconsistencies, detract from the overall experience. It's a place you’d go to if you're out of other options, but it’s not a destination for a special dining experience.
Would I recommend it? Only if you're in the area and craving a quick, simple meal. It's a solid backup option when you’re not looking for anything...
Read moreecently dined at a pure vegetarian restaurant and had a mixed experience. Here’s my detailed review: Food Quality: • The dosa was absolutely fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and served fresh. However, I was disappointed that the sambhar was limited to just one bowl, which didn’t feel generous. • The chhole bhature was another highlight. The taste was authentic, and the portion size was huge—perfect for someone with a big appetite! Service: • This was the biggest letdown. Despite the restaurant not being crowded, the service was painfully slow. • The waiter was rude and seemed disinterested in attending to customers, which negatively impacted the dining experience. On the brighter side, the cleaner was polite and more approachable than the actual serving staff! Pricing: • The prices are slightly above average. While the food quality made up for it, the poor service doesn’t justify the cost.
Overall Rating: ★★★★ (4/5) If you’re looking for delicious pure veg options like dosa or chhole bhature and don’t mind a lackluster service experience, this place might work for you. But for the price, they need to step up their...
Read moreI would recomend people not to eat from this oil manufacturing restaurant. I ordered a parcel from Raviraj on 1st September, which consisted of idli and medu vada. To my biggest disappointment when I went home, and bit into one of their medu vada I was welcomed with a spash of oil in my mouth. Startled as to what just happened, I squeezed one and got oil dripping all over my hands onto the plate. And when the medu vada became eatable after removing all the oil, I was left with a TON of oil just starting back at me. Do see the photo I have attached of the same. This place jaf hygiene issues previously but now they are causing a massive health issue to the public. The choice of visiting this place to have something to eat tired into a total waste of my money and a hit on my health. Would not visit this place again. Udupi Restaurant is a better restaurant for this specific...
