I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest biryani fan ever. The only biryani I eat is the one prepared by my mom. However, the biryani prepared at Shagun rekindled my love for home-made biryani. Apparently, this place has been an classic for years now and was introduced to me by a North Goan friend. Having 0% tolerance toward spice, we ordered for a Mutton Biryani (MB for all the cool kids out there // I must point out, the mutton wasn't cooked to my preference. Read moreHaving eaten here before when the restaurant first opened and having been a regular visitor one-two times every year, it is sad to see how far the restaurant has declined.
As I entered the restaurant, the smell of decaying meat welcomed me. Staff were not bothered to give you a menu or take the order. Most of the time they were just lounging around.

I called out to the waiters to take the cockroach away and they're just watching the cockroach struggling to get out of the gravy. The cleaner boy was atleast responsive and took the dish away. I did not even bother to ask for a replacement dish.
There is a lot of improvement needed in many areas of this restaurant. If the waiters and staff seem least bothered about their own restaurant, then you should...
