Instagrammers meet at I♥️SandwichHouse
About the place
I♥️SandwichHouse is a new place that’s come up on SG Highway, exactly opposite Rajpath Club. The folks over at I♥️SandwichHouse are determined to drastically change the way people in Ahmedabad think about sandwiches! It is probably the only café in Ahmedabad to serve premium gourmet sandwiches. I found out, through my interaction with the representatives of the restaurant, that they have an in-house consultant-baker, with whose help they serve a wide range of breads like pesto, pumpkin, focaccia, banana, ciabatta, and so many more that I couldn’t memorise all of them! They also use a wide variety of cheeses scarcely available in India, let alone Ahmedabad, to deliver an international experience. Not just breads and cheeses, they also bring fresh vegetables and sauces from all over the world, to cater a truly premium sandwich experience! The
invitation
Hungrito, one of the most popular Foodstagram pages in Ahmedabad, in collaboration with I♥️SandwichHouse, invited several foodstagrammers for a menu sampling session. However, as I soon discovered, the meet was not just about menu-sampling! They’d also included fun games, treasure-hunt, a quiz, and even a photography poll contest! All the games were extremely well-planned and were executed well indeed! I had a lot of fun meeting all the foodstagrammers and getting to know a few of them while we played the games!
The menu-sampling
Herbaceous Bread Boat
This was the subject of the photography contest, and so, by the time we could try it, it had turned cold. But I’m pretty sure had I tasted it while it was still hot, it would’ve tasted pretty good. However, it tasted just a little above average since it had turned cold.
Fried mozzarella and spinach sticks
Of all the things that we tried, this was probably what I loved the most.
Mushroom on Toast
Again, by the time I tried it, it had turned completely cold, yet it tasted pretty good. I’m quite sure I would’ve loved it had I tried it when served hot.
Pain Perdu
This was like an eggless, sweet version of the French toast. However, I didn’t quite like it and it did feel a tad bit on the drier side.
Pesto caprese grilled cheese
What stood out in this sandwich was their special pesto bread and the goat cheese. I did like it quite a bit, but I think it could’ve been a lot better than what it was.
Spanish omlette sandwich
I couldn’t quite wrap my head around this one. The potatoes in the Spanish omlette were almost undercooked and not properly caramelized, which made the omlette quite chunky. The omlette was also quite dry and the chunks of potatoes were quite large.
Couscous salad with mango chutney
I really liked the couscous salad. It was served cold, just like a salad should be served! The mango chutney added all the zest which, whether or not needed, I loved.
Traditional Churros with gooey chocolate
I didn’t quite like the churros but I don’t like churros anyway. But I’m pretty sure the churros could have been made a lot better than those which they served.
Plating and presentation
You know these guys mean business when you see the way they present all their dishes. The effort that they put into plating and presentation does indeed impart a premium feeling of eating a gourmet sandwich. I loved, especially, the way they presented the salads – mixing different colours splendidly. These guys make sure that all their dishes are as visually appealing as they taste – an immersive experience.
The ambiance
The place is quite large with ample seating space and high ceilings. The tables are well spaced out to make sure that patrons are never disturbed by those on other tables. The interior decor is also spot on with superb lighting to enhance the visual appeal of the food. However, there is one wall with a word-cloud, which doesn’t quite go with the rest of the interior and stands out like...
Read moreSo last evening I went to this place as it was on my list since very long.
The ambiance is really inviting and pleasing. The place is quite spacious which is the best part. There's a decent gap between 2 tables giving some sense of space.
Coming to the food, I am a vegetarian and my husband is a non vegetarian.
So we opted for veg fully loaded nachos, chicken patty sandwich, my favorite mocha, his favorite peach ice tea and classic Belgian waffle for dessert.
Fully Loaded Nachos - Rs. 260/- or 280/- (don't remember exactly) Literally by the name. There was a lot of toppings of mexican beans, homemade salsa, a looooot of molten cheese and olives. Usually the salsa gives quite sour flavour which J don't like, but these were not sour at all. Loved it.
Chicken Patty Sandwich - Rs. 260/- Looked great. Came with a lot of veggies and chicken patty. He loved it.
Mocha Praline - Rs. 200/- Came in a huge cup and I loved every bit of it. Highly recommended.
Peach Ice Tea - Rs. 150/- Definitely a great one and not the disappointing watery one.
Classic Belgian Waffle - Rs. 280/- As the name suggests, it was classic and absolutely tasty and crunchy. It came with pieces of bluberries & strawberries, honey and nutella and ice cream. This one just stole the show. The fruits made it taste heavenly.
Everything that we had was served in really big portions. It was very filling.
They also specialise in nutritious food.
We had a great time last evening and would definitely recommend this place for groups as...
Read moreI had a lot of expectations from this place but it turned out to be such a disappointment. The picture of a dish looks so different in the menu than in real.. they don’t put all the ingredients what they mention in the menu.
So I ordered for ‘Blueberry muffin granola greek yogurt breakfast bowl’ which has just oats, granola with apiece of foil, banana slices, some blueberries and honey and they charge INR. 260++ for a bowl full of oats, and I’m wondering where’s the Greek yogurt? All fancy names and pictures but the actual thing is just oats and some fruits. Very very disappointing, And even more shocking when I spoke to their staff about it.
There was no one from management on duty that day. There was a foreign object in my food. Staff didn’t even apologise. Even after I wrote to them on dm on their social media a/c to bring to their notice, so the top mgmt would know about the incident and can do something about it, they asked me if I can give them some time to check with the staff about what happened on that day & get all the details. It took over one week for them to get back to me and only after I reminded them twice. Which shows they don’t care about customers. And when I asked them what ingredients goes in the dish that I ordered for, they don’t answer...!
I HATE...
